Direction Home Akron Canton has been a leader in long-term care for over 40 years, serving thousands of individuals throughout Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne Counties. Direction Home Akron Canton, along with 11 other Area Agencies on Aging across the state of Ohio, was designated by the Older Americans Act which was designed to provide services to persons not adequately served by other public and private systems. Our focus is funding and advocacy surrounding programs and services that allow older adults and people with disabilities to remain independent and in the home of their choice. The goal for Premier Therapy is to return each resident to his/her highest level of function through occupational, physical, and speech therapy. Individual programs are tailored to include goals that will ensure appropriate functional skills that can be identified, learned, and reinforced. The program provides a therapeutic approach that meets the highest standard of quality in the most cost effective and value-added manner. The Premier Therapy program meets federal and state regulations as well as the requirements of third party payors. Additionally, Atlas Rehab & Wellness, a provider of outpatient Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy services, is now a division of Premier Therapy. Premier Therapy has been a recognized leader in the health care setting for physical, occupational, and speech therapy services in skilled and acute rehabilitative settings in the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York; setting the standards for skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. With Premier's success in these settings and high physician demand for additional therapy services at stand alone clinics, Premier Therapy has branched into outpatient care with Atlas Rehab & Wellness Centers. Atlas Rehab & Wellness is staffed with licensed therapists of all disciplines and are aided with the latest technology of equipment, including a heated therapy pool for aquatic therapy at the Liberty facility.

LIFE Pittsburgh is a community-based alternative to nursing home care. Through the LIFE Pittsburgh program, frail older adults can remain in their own home and receive a coordinated plan of care that enables them to maintain their independence and enjoy a safe and active life in the community. There is no fee for financially eligible participants.
