Shelter Care is a residential treatment program for children between the ages of 6 and 18 who manifest emotional, behavioral, or family adjustment type problems. Located in northeastern Ohio, Shelter Care provides a continuum of residential care, from short-term crisis intervention, to intermediate or respite care, as well as long term care in route to independent living. The short-term care is provided through the Safe Landing Youth Shelters. This program utilizes a professional staff model with qualified persons serving in different capacities on a 24-hour basis. The intermediate and long-term care is provided through a network of respite and shelter homes, housing between 2 to 4 children within a family setting.

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Youngstown includes three affiliate social service agencies and one housing corporation: Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County; Catholic Charities Serving Portage and Stark Counties; Catholic Charities Regional Agency, serving Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull Counties; and Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities. Catholic Charities works to provide service to people in need, to advocate for justice in social structures and to call the entire Church and other people of good will to do the same. The agencies provide daily service to people in need, such as: food, shelter, clothing, utility assistance, financial education, homeless outreach, senior support and more (depending on the agency location). The administrative offices provide support to all agencies.
