The Foundation is governed by an independent board composed of citizens living in Suffolk and in surrounding communities in the previous service area of the Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. It is the Foundation’s goal to continue on the philanthropic journey started by Amedeo Obici when he built a hospital to honor his wife’s memory and to serve the healthcare needs of the surrounding community. The Foundation’s mission today reflects this same desire as we strive to address the unmet needs of the medically indigent and uninsured and to support programs which prevent illness and disease.

The James House is the only accredited nonprofit agency helping women, men, and children in the Tri-Cities area of Virginia affected by sexual violence, domestic violence, and stalking. All of our services are free, confidential, and available in English and Spanish.

We will promote hope and instill positive changes in youth and adults within our community through donating essential resources, volunteering in the community, and hosting empowerment events. Our year-round programs benefit all youth ages 3 and up, from all backgrounds, with a focus on at-risk youth, who normally would not have the chance to attend programs like ours. Through our I Am Beautifully Made (IABM) and I Am Handsomely Made (IAHM) program, we help build self-esteem, confidence, self-respect, discipline, morals, creativity, character, a sense of pride, conflict resolution, leadership, and self-expression.

"Just" People, Inc. is a private not for profit organization that's mission is to provide a variety of support services to adults with developmental disabilities, mental illnesses and head injuries. We are dedicated to meeting the needs for quality, dependable support. We are proud to offer six different programs to our individuals to assist with a wide variety of needs. These programs are intended to serve high-functioning individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or head injury. Our Case Managers work to give our individuals the best support in every aspect of their daily lives. Some of the main areas we focus on are community integration, social skills, independent living skills, and professional development. Services included in our programs are transportation to work, personal appointments and social activities. We also monitor medication when necessary.
