The Winston-Salem Foundation is a community foundation that supports charitable programs in the greater Forsyth County area. Founded in 1919 with a $1,000 gift, it now administers 1,450 funds and had total custodial assets of $605 million at the end of 2017. In 2017, the Foundation granted $46.3 million to charitable causes, $2.9 million of which was through the Community Grants program. We offer personalized service to make giving easy, flexible and efficient; local expertise with knowledge of current community issues to make giving as effective as possible; and community leadership in bringing together diverse voices and groups to address issues, foster greater giving and support high-impact opportunities. Our mission is to invest in our community by making philanthropy and its benefits available to all. We accomplish this by: -Assisting individuals and organizations with their charitable giving -Making grants to nonprofit organizations -Providing financial aid to college students -Offering community leadership on many local issues

United Way of Greater High Point develops community resources and partnerships that support a broad array of critical health and human service needs in our community. Resources are focused on community impact programs that promote and improve education, health and income in the Greater High Point. HISTORY After almost a year spent planning and talking with local leaders, the United Way of High Point, then called the "Community Chest" and led by Mr. H.A. Millis, first held an organizational meeting on September 12, 1935. A headline in that day's High Point Enterprise read, "Community Chest will be organized tonight." The caption stated, "A gathering will be held at 8 o'clock tonight for purpose of electing Board of Trustees and mapping out plans for the season." Eighty people attended that first meeting of what is today called the United Way of Greater High Point. Mr. R.T. Amos was elected the first President of the Board of Directors, and the five original partner agencies were the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, the YMCA, the YWCA, and the Boy Scouts. The first fund-raising campaign began on October 14, 1935, with a goal of $33,677.32,"and it lasted four days! Today, United Way of Greater High Point continues a proud tradition of that original stewardship and commitment to our community. We currently fund 69 programs at 29 partner agencies, including the original five, and hundreds of volunteers help us raise and allocate the funding that supports them.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHFBM) strives through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food. SHFBM has been in existence since 1981. In 2016-2017, SHFBM distributed 54 million pounds of food to 700 agencies in our 19 county service region. Who We Are and What We Do: We provide a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. We provide training, technical assistance and hunger education to our partner agencies. Counties Served: We serve a total of 19 counties - 14 counties in North Carolina including Anson, Burke, Cabarrus, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly and Union. We serve 5 counties in South Carolina including Cherokee, Lancaster, Spartanburg, Union and York.

The Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation supports organizations and networks in 11 Southern states that build power to advance racial equity.

For 29 years, the Crosby Scholars Community Partnership has helped students in public middle and high schools in Forsyth County prepare academically, personally, and financially for college. Crosby Scholars serves 11,000 students annually and seeks to ensure each achieves their educational goals by providing admissions, financial aid, career and college exploration, advising, college campus visits, community service opportunities, cultural experiences, and over $980,000 annually in scholarships and Last Dollar Grants for college tuition. Crosby Scholars seeks to establish inclusive and equitable practices for all its members and draws on their varied strengths and perspectives.

The American Children's Home opened in 1928 by the Junior Order United American Mechanics North Carolina State Council, our country's oldest patriotic fraternity. The Home initially served orphaned children of Junior Order members. However, as time passed there were fewer and fewer true orphans and we began accepting children through county Departments of Social Services. These children, who have suffered abuse, neglect and/or abandonment, have been removed from their homes by court order and need a caring, nurturing environment to help them deal with past experiences and prepare them for their future. We believe that every young child has the inherent right to live and grow in a happy and loving environment. The stability of tomorrow's world depends upon the strength of character within the spirit of each child today. The purpose of the American Children's Home is to help instill in the hearts of our boys and girls an understanding and love for their Creator, a loyalty to their country and its freedom and a respect for others and themselves. The American Children's Home seeks to provide the nurturing care that will heal a child's broken spirit and help reunite families who have experienced discord and separation.

Since 1938, the NJCAA has served as the nation’s premier governing body for two-year collegiate athletics, providing student-athletes opportunities to PREPARE, COMPETE, SUCCEED and ACHIEVE in their academic and athletic disciplines. The NJCAA is the second-largest national intercollegiate athletic organization in the United States with over 500 member schools in 42 states. Each year over 3,400 teams compete in 25 different sports across multiple divisions in the NJCAA and the organization sponsors 47 national championship events and nine football bowl games.

Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County was established in 1949 and was the first locally established arts council in the United States. Now there are more than 4,000. Arts Council enriches the quality of life for people in Winston-Salem and neighboring communities by raising funds for the arts, advocating for the arts, sponsoring events in conjunction with other arts organizations, providing educational opportunities strengthening cultural resources, developing social capital, and aiding economic development. Its continued effectiveness can be attributed to the thousands of dedicated volunteers and contributors who are firmly committed to the idea that Winston-Salem is “The City of Arts and Innovation.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater High Point is a nonprofit agency whose objective is to help mentor, guide, and direct youth who are apart of underrepresented Communities. The agency focuses on introducing our youth to a diverse set of events and activities that encourage leadership, character development, and healthy lifestyles. Our objective is to help our youth to become successful citizens in our communities.The responsibilities for this position are as followed:-Establish program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission-Oversee provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and monthly goals for youth development-Ensure that staff understand and effectively communicate standards of after school programs and activities that safe and enriching to Club members-Implement core programs that are directed to exposing Club members to professions and service activities to allow them to see how citizens contribute to helping their community thrive (ex: World of Work Tour, Community Service, Clean Up project).-Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteersThe Boys & Girls Club of Greater High Point is in support with supporting the youth who may not possess the support they need.
