HUDSON VALLEY CREDIT UNION
HUDSON VALLEY CREDIT UNION
Poughkeepsie, New York
500+ employees
In October 1963, a group of IBM employees had a vision—to create a financial cooperative for IBM employees and their families, where the needs of the individual would be placed before profit. Our product line in the beginning was modest, consisting of basic savings and consumer loans. By the end of our first year, the credit union had 14 member accounts and $172 in assets. Our name has changed over the years, our assets, products, and services have grown. Our membership has evolved to reflect the changing needs of our surrounding community but our mission and vision remain the same. Today, Hudson Valley Credit Union is a full service not-for-profit financial cooperative, 300,000+ members strong. We extend membership to our neighbors who live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, or Westchester Counties. HVCU is federally insured by the NCUA. Equal Housing Opportunity. View our social media policy: https://www.hvcu.org/social-media-policy/

THOMASTON SAVINGS BANK
THOMASTON SAVINGS BANK
Thomaston, Connecticut
All Size Average employees
Thomaston Savings Bank began a tradition of family banking for people of the community. It was George A. Stoughton who had been most active in collecting signatures for a petition to the Legislature. After the charter was granted in August 1874, it was Mr. Stoughton who made room in his store, Burr & Stoughton, for the Bank. In September 1874, David Merriam made the first deposit. Under successive presidents, vice-presidents and secretary-treasurers, the Bank continued to serve the growing manufacturing town from varying locations until it moved into its own building on December 15, 1939 – a new colonial-style office built on the same site where Seth Thomas had originally built his home. From its humble beginnings in the Burr & Stoughton department store, Thomaston Savings Bank has expanded its role to meet the financial needs of individuals, families, and businesses located throughout western Connecticut and is now one of the strongest financial institutions in the state. Today, in the spirit of enterprise and endeavor that is the heritage of the former farming hamlet that became its own small city, Thomaston Savings Bank looks back with pride to its achievements – and looks ahead with dedication to a continued tradition of community banking.

CONNECTICUT MUTUAL HOLDING COMPANY
CONNECTICUT MUTUAL HOLDING COMPANY
Winsted, Connecticut
100-499 employees
Different from a commercial bank with stockholders, community leaders founded Winsted Savings Bank in 1860. In 1875, local business leaders founded Mechanics Savings Bank of Winsted (later Northwest Bank for Savings). Both banks supported the development of Winsted, CT and surrounding towns through savings, loans and personal relationships with their customers. They helped individuals, families, businesses and communities—and later met the need for a branch network and expanded services. In 1996, the two banks merged into Northwest Community Bank. Headquartered in Winsted, today we have branches in Avon, Granby, New Hartford and Torrington—as well as our nationally recognized academic branch in Northwestern Regional School No. 7 High School. While still deeply committed to our local area, technology now offers our customers services wherever they go, whenever they need them. Even in our mobile society, banking can still be a relationship. In addition, Northwest Community Bank offers a range of consumer and commercial banking services, as well as support to local charitable institutions. Our directors, officers, managers and other staff volunteer for boards, committees and activities of countless nonprofit organizations: libraries, schools, the arts, Chambers of Commerce, Rotary clubs and foundations. We also make contributions to United Way, YMCA, Northwestern Connecticut Community College Foundation, Special Olympics, American Mural Project, the Tour of Litchfield Hills, Gifts of Love and so many others. For more than 150 years, Northwest Community Bank has been a mutual saving bank operated for the benefit of its depositors. True to our roots, we value our customers and the communities in which we live and work. It’s your community — and your Northwest Community Bank! Contact us to see how we can serve you.
