Nevada Land Conservancy is dedicated to preserving and protecting Nevada’s open spaces and special places for future generations. The Trust facilitates the purchase of high conservation value tracts of land and water by leveraging its expertise in: landowner outreach and communications; negotiations; document preparation; information tracking and landowner database systems; budget management; and knowledge of real estate and Nevada water law.Responsibilities:•Key member of the acquisition team responsible for the protection of 40,700 acres of land and water in northern Nevada. Responsibilities included landowner negotiation, acquisition due diligence, appraisal, fundraising, final closing documents, and drafting stewardship plans for future management.•Consistent writer, recipient, and follow up reporter for grants on behalf of Nevada Land Trust from federal, state, and local government agencies, local foundations, and private donors.•Helped develop the annual operating budget for land acquisition and special events, and worked with other staff and board of directors to develop, and update, the strategic plan.•Truckee River State Question One Funding Group facilitator working with more than 30 agency representatives to distribute $10 million in conservation bond funding between restoration, recreation and acquisition projects.•Truckee River Floodplain Protection team member working with landowners to negotiate watershed protection for Washoe County Water Resources Department.•Secured funding for statewide agricultural protection by qualifying Nevada for the 2002 Federal Farm Bill’s Farm & Ranch Lands Protection Program.•Organized the Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour for the Truckee Meadows, 2001-2013, an event that raises in excess of $30,000 annually through sponsorships, raffles & ticket sales.•Organized and led numerous restoration projects, clean-ups, donor field trips, hikes and fundraising special events.
