Gold Crest Retirement Center is a unique healthcare campus with Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, Therapy, and Child Care.

Blue Valley Lutheran Homes Society, Inc., was established in 1948 as a social ministry organization by area Lutheran congregations when they saw the vital need for long-term nursing home care in the vicinity of Thayer, Fillmore, Jefferson, Nuckolls, and Clay Counties in Nebraska. Today, 17 of those churches remain as sponsors of our non-profit. BVLH has 180 full and part-time employees from 23 different area communities and is the second largest employer in Thayer County, Nebraska. We are financially supported by operations and by the fundraising efforts of our Foundation for Blue Valley Lutheran Homes, which just played a major part in raising funds for our $6.4 million 2009 assisted living expansion and is currently focusing its efforts on the nursing home’s spa rooms and lobby enhancements. Our unique campus arrangement with the hospital makes our continuum of care an attractive option. We are proud of each of our facilities and are known for our great care. It is our hope that all residents who walk through our doors realize that…they’re home.

The mission of HoriSun Hospice is to provide care, comfort and hope to patients and support to their families or other caregivers. HoriSun Hospice is for people who want to remain in their home, or other place of residence throughout the course of their illness. HoriSun Hospice is for people who believe they have a right to be pain free with disease symptoms managed so they will be able to really live for as long as possible. It is for people who are concerned about the future of their loved ones and want their family supported throughout the course of their illness. It is for people who want to have choices, to be involved in their plan of care. The program is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying, making it possible for them to remain independent for as long as possible, and in familiar surroundings. Hospice care is centered on the patient/caregiver. It is more than a health care service as it attends to the emotional, practical and spiritual concerns of the patient and the family according to their wishes. HOSPICE affirms life. HOSPICE exists in the belief that through appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community, patients/families/caregivers will be free to attain a degree of mental preparation for death that is satisfying to them. HOSPICE does nothing to speed up or to slow down the dying process. Just as doctors and midwives lend support and expertise during the time of childbirth, so hospice provides its presence and specialized knowledge during the dying process. Our mission and promise to our community is simple - to provide the best care possible, 24 hours a day, seven days a week for all whose lives are affected by a life-limiting illness or condition. Comfort, compassion and caring are our guiding principles.
