Alexandra House was established in 1977, when a group of concerned citizens formed the Anoka County Task Force for Battered Women. Within a year the Task Force established a 24-hour crisis line, with the first emergency shelter opening in 1980. First located in Fridley, the original shelter housed 12 women and children. In 1983 the shelter moved to a new site in Blaine that provided space for 17 residents. By 1994, the second shelter was outgrown and the organization built its current facility in Blaine, which can house up to 35 women and children (including males to age 18) at a time. As the needs of the community evolved, so too has Alexandra House expanded on its services – adding legal advocacy, therapy and support services, violence prevention programs, abuse in later life resources, and community education and professional training. Alexandra House supports everyone who is affected by domestic and sexual violence and abuse in later life. We are a resource for victims and survivors of sexual violence in any form. We also offer support to friends and family of victim/survivors and other concerned persons. We provide 24-hour emergency shelter, support services and advocacy to victims of domestic and sexual violence. We are located in the cities of Blaine and Anoka, but serve victims of domestic and sexual violence across the state of Minnesota. The mission of Alexandra House is to empower victims of domestic and sexual violence, and inspire social change, through education, support and advocacy.

Independent Lifestyles, Inc. - A Center for Independent Living "A team promoting independence and choices for people with disabilities, their families, and communities." Independent Lifestyles is dedicated to working with persons of all disabilities to ensure that they are living as independently as possible. There are many different programs offered to assist our consumers in a variety of areas. The Independent Living Skills Program is designed to assist people with disabilities in learnin new and healthy independent living skills. The Information and Referral Program provides up-to-date information about disability and available services with an extensive library of disablity related information about accessibility laws, rules and regulations. The Peer Mentoring Program is about people with disabilities serving as role models for others with disabilities in both a one-to-one and group setting. The Accessibility Program offers accessibility assistance to consumers to become more independent in their homes, vehicles and the community. Independent Lifestyles also offers a PCA (Personal Care Attendant) Choice program that allows the person needing PCA's to manage their own cares. They will be in charge of the hiring, firing, training and supervision of their PCA's with Independent Lifestyles acting as the fiscal intermediary.

Anna Marie's Alliance provides education, intervention, and advocacy to those affected by relationship violence with a holistic approach and anti-oppression focus. Anna Marie's serves the central Minnesota region, including Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Wright, and Mille Lacs counties. Our advocates are available to help 24 hours a day, every day.

OUR VISION - The collective voices of survivors and advocates will transform our community to one where healthy relationships thrive, abuse is not tolerated, and individuals have the resources to succeed. We are excited to share that Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center is now Relationship Safety Alliance! We continue to be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization led by a volunteer board and an amazing and capable staff. We continue to serve individuals who have or are experiencing some type of relationship abuse through our three signature programs and two facilities. We provide our services at no cost thanks to generous support from our donors and grant funding. We will continue to rely on our community to support these programs until the day we can eliminate the stigma around getting help and changes in the legal system ensure every abuser is held accountable.
