Hark Orchideen is the world market leader in the cleanroom-laboratory production of orchids and employs over 500 employees at the headquarter in Lippstadt. Our company propagates plants under in-vitro conditions to produce pathogen-free and genetic identical plants in large amounts. The basis of our successful orchid propagation is our own developed culture media and propagation methods. Crossbreeding, cultivation and propagation of orchids require skills and experience that often take generations to acquire. Fortunately, our company can already look back on a long tradition in dealing with this very demanding culture. Therefore customers from all over the world can have their plants propagated in our laboratory and have confindence in our many years of experience in the production of orchids. Already Since 1904 we have worked with plants at the same location in Lippstadt. In the beginning we produced vegetables and flowers for the local market, until Fritz Hark, the son of the founder, laid the foundation stone for today´s company in 1949. With the purchase of his first orchid, a passion for these fascinating plants developed, which still shapes us today. In 1986 Fritz Hark jr. and his wife Ingrid took over the company. The nursery with a small laboratory gradually developed into a specialised laboratory for orchid propagation. In response to the enormous demand on the market, we have built over 17.500m² of laboratory space and air-conditioned chambers since 1999. In 5 ultra-modern laboratories, 332 clean-benches with more than 500 employees produce orchids only. Furthermore our copmany began to build a new laboratory in Kalamazoo, Michigan (USA) in 2012. Since August 2013 we have been producing orchids for the american market on 3200m² of production space with over 90 employees. Meanwhile the fourth generation, Anja Hark-Borrmann and her husband Oliver Borrmann have taken over responsibility for the company.
