THE YUNION
THE YUNION
Detroit, Michigan
1-24 employees
The Yunion (pronounced union) is a faith based youth serving non profit organization. Our mission is to counter negative cultural influences that misdirect the lives of youth and young adults by raising awareness and building character through innovative and relevant youth programming, mentoring and ministry. The Yunion was founded by our current President and CEO Jason Wilson. In 2003 God gave him the vision to unite gifted and talented Christians nationwide; those determined to be light to youth that were misguided. As a former member of the legendary Detroit based rap group Kaos & Mystro, Mr. Wilson has seen and experienced firsthand hip hop music’s negative influence and persuasive power. The Yunion originally started as a record label producing music that countered the potentially deadly influence of the hip-hop culture. However our mission soon changed when we realized that after the music stopped, the negative pressures continued for the population of youth we were called to reach. In 2005, Mr. Wilson pursued establishing the Yunion as a 501c3 faith based non-profit organization, in order to gain access to funding needed to expand our services. Today the Yuinon has reached over 10,000 Metro Detroit youth via intensive and innovative programming, engaging workshops, assemblies and conferences.
