Community Action is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 human service organization founded in 1966 and that is dedicated to helping people achieve and maintain independence. To this end, the agency provides basic needs assistance to elderly, disabled and low- to moderate-income families in the Michigan counties of Barry, Branch, Calhoun, and St. Joseph. Services and programs we provided include Head Start, food assistance, Meals on Wheels, housing assistance, utility assistance and senior transportation.

Highfields began in 1962 as a residential program for at-risk boys and has since expanded to serve about 8,000 people in 13 mid-Michigan counties. Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan’s Heartland (GICMH) assists persons who have barriers to employment through training, employment, and other services. GICMH is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, charitable organization. Goodwill Industries is not a government agency. A volunteer Board of Directors that is made up of local citizens provides oversight to the organization, ensuring that community needs are met.

Since 1956, Family Service Agency has been providing counseling and other essential services to DeKalb County. We are among the oldest private, nonprofit organizations in the area, and our programs have grown and adapted to the changing community needs. Youth Haven is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3, organization with a single purpose of meeting the needs of disadvantaged youth - free of charge. So many kids today live in the midst of difficult and tragic circumstances, including abuse, neglect, poverty, gang violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and even the knowledge that a parent is in prison. These kids are desperate to be loved and to find hope for the future. Sadly, if no one reaches out to them, they will never see beyond what they know in their own, bleak world. That's why we are committed to making a difference in their lives. With campuses in Michigan and Arizona, we have designed our year-round on-site programs, Kids' Klub after school activities, Caring Clowns hospital outreach, and follow-up efforts to show hurting kids that God loves them, people care about them, and there is hope for the future! Because we work with children who do not have the means to pay for their stay at Youth Haven, one of our founding principles was to provide these experiences to disadvantaged children free of charge. Youth Haven was established in 1968 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that does not receive state or federal funding.
