Community Action is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 human service organization founded in 1966 and that is dedicated to helping people achieve and maintain independence. To this end, the agency provides basic needs assistance to elderly, disabled and low- to moderate-income families in the Michigan counties of Barry, Branch, Calhoun, and St. Joseph. Services and programs we provided include Head Start, food assistance, Meals on Wheels, housing assistance, utility assistance and senior transportation.

We are the first stop for people with disabilities and their families in Southwest Michigan. We serve people in Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph & Van Buren Counties. As the leading disability social services organization in Southwest Michigan, our goal is to help foster a community where people with disabilities are able to participate fully in everyday life with equal opportunities and self-determination. Whether someone has a physical, psychiatric, neurological, or sensory disabilities, we believe they should be able to thrive and grow at home, in the workplace, and in their community. We also assist organizations, businesses, and government agencies to understand their rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act. We provide workshops and onsite training, technical assistance and support in learning to be welcoming of people with disabilities as customers, clients, patrons, volunteers, or employees.

Highfields, Inc. is a nonprofit human services organization dedicated to creating positive change in the lives of children, youth and families through counseling and support services. Highfields began in 1962 as a residential program for at-risk boys and has since expanded to serve about 8,000 people in 13 mid-Michigan counties. We offer a large variety of counseling, training, intervention and support services. Our mission is to provide opportunities to children, youth and their families to be more responsible for their own lives and to strengthen their relationships with others. Our vision is to create a brighter future for children, youth, families and their communities.

Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan’s Heartland (GICMH) assists persons who have barriers to employment through training, employment, and other services. GICMH is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, charitable organization. Goodwill Industries is not a government agency. A volunteer Board of Directors that is made up of local citizens provides oversight to the organization, ensuring that community needs are met.

Since 1956, Family Service Agency has been providing counseling and other essential services to DeKalb County. We are among the oldest private, nonprofit organizations in the area, and our programs have grown and adapted to the changing community needs. We are an umbrella agency to five distinct social service programs: Youth Mentoring, Children's Advocacy Center, Center for Counseling, Community Action Program, and Senior Services.
