As an insurance verification specialist, I check the insurance of each patient that comes through our facility to make sure their coverage is active, make sure their benefits cover our facility, see if any additional documentation such as authorizations are required, and put together an estimated cost. I also communicate with doctors offices and patients when needed regarding insurance needs and fees. In addition, I help keep record higher cost procedure to track the coverage of certain insurances as well as profits and losses. I also aid in admitting patients upon arrival, conduct Covid screenings, and other duties the front desk may need help with. If caught up with the above mentioned tasks, I do help the medical records department with auditing charts to ensure that all required documents and signatures are present. There are many moments at my current position where I help fellow colleagues with any IT issues they may have within my scope of permissions on our computer system. This includes: complications with printers on our network, SharePoint access, and a variety of troubleshooting from re-booting to new desktop set-ups.
