Citizens for Citizens, Inc. (CFC) is a Community Action Agency headquartered in Fall River, MA. Incorporated in 1965 under the Economic Opportunity Act to serve as the Community Action Agency of Greater Fall River, CFC now serves the vast majority of Bristol County, providing a wide range of services to over 34,000 clients. Major programs include LIHEAP, Weatherization, Head Start, Family Planning, and Food Pantry. CFC is funded by a variety of sources, including the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). South Shore Elder Services is the Federal designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and State designated Aging Services Access Point (ASAP) for 11 cities and towns in Massachusetts. Serving the cities and towns of Braintree, Cohasset, Hingham, Holbrook, Hull, Milton, Norwell, Quincy, Randolph, Scituate and Weymouth, South Shore Elder Services employs over 100 staff members who provide assessments, advocacy and assistance to elder and disabled Consumers to assist their remaining at home in the community for as long as possible. South Shore Elder Services is a private, non profit corporation with a volunteer Board of Directors and Advisory Council. South Shore Elder Services programs are funded in part by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs and by the care and donation of hundreds of volunteers, grants from Trusts, private contracts and private donations. Little People's College was founded in 1980 by two sisters, Sandy Rego and Joyce deSousa, who were public school teachers and mothers of preschool age children. Together they developed a unique curriculum which included the skills which children would need when they entered public school. The learning begins when a child steps through the door and continues throughout the day. Little People's College locations have been nationally accredited since 1992 and continue to pursue accreditation for the newest centers as they reach their first anniversary. There are currently 14 locations and the curriculum continues to be reviewed and updated annually to include the most current changes to local, state and national requirements. Incorporated on June 21, 1965, Self Help, Inc., like most other existing Community Action Agencies was established during President Lyndon Johnson's “War on Poverty.” Self Help has been in existence for 39 years and currently serves residents in 31 Commonwealth of Massachusetts cities and towns located in Plymouth, Bristol and Norfolk counties. Annually we serve over 15,000 households that are located in our service area and provide programs and services designed to meet the most pressing needs of residents of our service area. Self Help has a history rich in community involvement and positive community change. Some programs such as Head Start have been with us since 1965 and continue to grow and impact low-income families with preschool children. Other programs such as Fuel Assistance, Community Partnerships for Children and Lead Abatement services were developed to meet specific needs identified in our service area through Community Action Planning.
