Since its origin in 1965, the Head Of The Charles® Regatta has welcomed the world’s best crew teams to the banks of the Charles River for the ultimate two-day rowing competition. Preparing for an event that attracts over 11,000 athletes and tens of thousands of spectators requires a great deal of preparation. The HOCR consists of a 15 member Board of Directors, 6 of which are in charge of race management and overseeing a nine-member race committee (including two race co-chairs). The race committee meets year-round to discuss the operational and logistical details of the event. They are assisted by 115 leading volunteers on 30 separate committees that begin meeting weekly in the fall. A full-time, professional staff of four, headquartered in the Cambridge Boat Club, works year-round to plan the event, obtain sponsorship and communicate with the rowing community. All of these individuals, including a staff of 2,000 dedicated volunteers, bring the Regatta to life every October and will continue to do so for years to come. Created Hall of Fame golfer Annika Sorenstam’s Foundation, whose mission is to teach children the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition and offer aspiring junior golfers opportunities to pursue their dreams. Collaborated with two key partners – The First Tee and Florida Hospital for Children - to develop a new, comprehensive youth health and wellness program, Nine Healthy Habits, to be implemented in over 4,000 schools nationally. Launched a national partnership with SPARK, the leading physical education program for children in schools, to implement SPARK in 400 schools across Florida and Arkansas, positively impacting over 369,000 kids. Conducted signature junior golf initiatives, including the award-winning ANNIKA Invitational in the USA, China and Sweden, while also conducting educational programs for the juniors on proper nutrition, skin care and media management. Collaborated with several national leading nonprofit organizations to develop new programs, including the Women’s Sports Foundation, Athletes For Hope, the National Association for Sport and Physical Education and the Clinton Foundation. Developed strategy and plan for the ANNIKA Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art children’s health and wellness center in Central Florida. Lobbied annually on Capitol Hill for $80 million in federal funding for physical education programs, supporting National Health Through Fitness Day. Fundraised over $2.5 million by conducting key signature events (ANNIKA & Friends) and through donors and grant funding.

Ed graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Biochemistry, yet music remained a creative passion. He founded the company to develop his growing interest in the field of artist management and project development after working as an agent in the talent booking field at Ted Kurland Associates. Renowned drummer, educator and Thelonious Monk Institute founder T.S. Monk and fellow Harvard alum and Grammy Award winning banjoist Alison Brown were among the first artists to become clients. Through the years, Ed Keane Associates has worked with some of music’s most gifted artists in the musical genres of jazz, classical, and world including Nnenna Freelon, Jon Faddis, David Amram, Harry Connick, Jr., and more. During that time, Ed Keane Associates has produced touring productions including Century Americana, and Dreaming The Duke in association with The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The company has grown to offer talent booking, production, and music publishing services and is formed into two parts: the Management Division, and the Booking Division. Ed Keane, personally, supervises all international bookings, production, and operations. Direct and oversee leadership, strategy and administration of a nine full member and seven affiliate member NCAA Division III athletic conference with 19 championships. Steer all aspects of business operations of the organization as well as manage governance, compliance and enforcement, championships, student-athlete recognition programs and facilitate NCAA Strategic Initiative Grant compliance by member institutions. Build and establish consensus, promoting the league and its athletes. Interface with presidents, athletic directors, coaches, commissioners and NCAA staff to advocate on behalf of the league and its interests. Drive human resources (HR) functions, including sourcing, onboarding and training of staff and annual performance reviews. Oversee benefits administration, including plan selection, worker’s compensation and P&C insurance.
