The WaterRower Inc. was originally designed in 1988 by John Duke, the inventor of WaterRower's unique WaterFlywheel. The original offices and workshops were and continue to be based in based in Rhode Island, in the small coastal town of Warren. WaterRower (UK) Ltd was formed in 1991 to market and distribute the WaterRower throughout Europe under license to WaterRower Inc. Initially the company had offices in Fulham in London. A 1993 agreement provided WaterRower (UK) Ltd with the additional right to manufacture the WaterRower, under license, for Europe. Workshops were established in the idyllic stately home of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, Mapperton Manor. In 1995, the company consolidated its offices and workshop under one roof, in Ravenscourt Park in West London, which remain to be the European Headquarters to this day. We at WaterRower have a simple quest, to allow others to experience the physical benefits and physiological pleasure which is the pastime of rowing.
