In John 13:1-16, we read of how Jesus washed His disciples' feet. it was considered so counter-cultural and unthinkable that even Peter had to rebuke his master. SGA thinks about this story quite often as we ponder about the essence of being a leader, and subsequently, a servant of the community that we find ourselves in. Jesus loved His disciples and showed it by serving them, and then laying His life down for them. Without love, leadership is merely temptation for a power trip but with love it is transformational for the betterment of everyone. What does it mean to serve the student body? The bridge is the symbol adopted by the Student Government Association because our aim is to act as a bridge, representing the student body as well as the institution. Serving with love means listening, caring, empathizing, and speaking truth when and where it needs to be spoken, on behalf of those who do not have the same opportunity or privilege to do so. Serving with love means celebrating the stories of our fellow neighbors who make this community so diverse and rich. Serving with love means having difficult conversations with people of differing ideals and values because we want to get to know you, not just of you. It is our hope that we will be able to serve you all faithfully. In love and in humility. That we may consistently lay down our lives so that His will may be done through us for those around us. We hope you will journey with us in striving to make Messiah a better place than it was yesterday.

Founded in 1986, Youth Service America believes that youth, communities, and democracy thrive when we all work together for the common good. We’re on a mission to make working together for the common good the common expectation and common experience of every young person. America's 250th! Even though youth participation rates are at or near record-high levels, we’re still leaving 3 of every 4 young people out, and participation rates are even lower among youth from underserved, historically excluded low-income communities and communities of color. YSA is working to change that. YSA activates young people, ages 5-25, to find their voice, take action, and acquire powerful civic and 21st Century skills as they solve problems facing their communities. Over the last 10 years, YSA’s campaigns & events engaged more than 3.2 million young people in service. YSA supports its activation campaigns & events with grants, training & resources, and recognition programs for young people and their adult partners. Youth-led projects use Awareness, Service, Advocacy, and Philanthropy (ASAP) strategies to change the world.

The National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO) is the professional association of the State government officials who carry out the national historic preservation program as delegates of the Secretary of the Interior pursuant to the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (NHPA) (16 USC 470). The NCSHPO is a 501(c)(3) corporation registered in the District of Columbia. The NCSHPO acts as a communications vehicle among the SHPOs and their staffs and represents the SHPOs with federal agencies and national preservation organizations.

The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) is an independent agency recognized by the US Department of Education to accredit schools of public health and public health programs offered in settings other than schools of public health. These schools and programs prepare students for entry into careers in public health. The primary professional degree is the Master of Public Health (MPH) but other baccalaureate, master's and doctoral degrees are offered as well.

• Directly assist the Executive Director; responsible for all aspects of office administration including overseeing of an administrative assistant/receptionist and a part-time accountant. • For the last three years, organized a national Communicating Air Quality conference which brings together representatives from over 80 federal, state and local government agencies to discuss public outreach and communications strategies related to air quality. Activities included identifying moderators and speakers, coordinating the exhibit hall and producing a meeting binder of all presentation materials. • Provide membership services to over 300 state and local air pollution control officials, including new members information, meeting agenda and registration materials, dues processing, publications and newsletters, committee information and access to our web sites. • Responsible for meeting planning and onsite logistics for two national membership meetings, two meetings of the Boards of Directors and Committee Chairs, occasional press conferences and numerous workgroup meetings. • Oversee two web sites including daily updates to: Air Web, a members-only web site used to keep state and local agencies apprised of the activities of the associations, their committees and actions by Federal government agencies that affect air pollution control in the U.S., and 4cleanair.org, the associations’ national and international web site. Maintain an electronic membership database of over 1,700 entries. • Responsible for all financial transactions including cash disbursements with an annual budget of over $1million. Review monthly accounting reports, identifying any major discrepancies with approved budgeted amounts. • Prepare grant applications to the Federal government; prepare project summary reports and financial status reports for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; prepare financial projections of funding needs for use in the preparation of grant applications.

Provides an essential role regionally as a representative at ACSA business meetings; in the nomination of colleagues for service in ACSA or collateral organizations; as a liaison between the national office and Texas A&M University; and as administrator of TAMU's vote on official ACSA business. Faculty councilors are the primary contact for the distribution of ACSA materials, publications, and communications. In short, the service of a school’s councilor is critical to the success of ACSA and its programs.
