Founded in 1965, Community Concepts is a Community Action Agency and a 501c(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen individuals, families and communities in Western Maine by providing diverse programs, engaging in strategic partnerships, and through advocacy that addresses the barriers to promote economic opportunities for all. For over fifty years, York County Community Action Corporation has been providing services and presenting opportunities to support the economic, social, educational, physical and emotional wellbeing of York County residents. Woodfords Family Services is a nonprofit organization committed to the support and inclusion of people with special needs and their families in Maine communties. For 50 years, Woodfords has supported children, youth and adults to reach their highest potentiall and reach their goals. Woodfords is based in Westbrook, Maine with satellite location in Manchester, Waterville and Topsham and provides services in 11 of Maine's 16 counties. The agency employs approximately 500 individuals who work with more than 1,500 families and many schools and community organizations each year.

As the largest hunger relief organization in Maine, Good Shepherd Food Bank provides for Mainers facing hunger by distributing nutritious food to 400 partner agencies across the state, including food pantries, meal sites, and youth programs. Together with its network, the Food Bank leads a statewide effort to combat the root causes of hunger by engaging in advocacy, nutrition education, and strategic partnerships. There are many ways to describe Preble Street: drop-in centers, soup kitchens, food pantry, shelters, social work services, supported housing. These descriptions only tell part of the story of who we are, though. We are a community at Preble Street. The “We” means everyone involved: staff, board, volunteers, donors, and especially those who use our services. Everyone is welcome at Preble Street, everyone is respected and treated with dignity, and everyone is invited to contribute to the effort of meeting our mission: "To provide accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty, and to advocate for solutions to these problems."​ Preble Street is about people. The John T. Gorman Foundation advances ideas and opportunities that can improve the lives of disadvantaged people in Maine. To achieve the greatest impact, the Foundation has a special interest in strengthening families and helping communities provide them with the supports and opportunities they need to thrive. This focus on family strengthening reflects our founder, Tom Gorman’s recognition that his personal success and achievement were largely derived from the support provided to him by his family and community, as well as his desire to provide those less fortunate with opportunities to succeed.

The Southern Maine Agency on Aging is the focal point in Cumberland and York counties for resources, services and information to empower older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers to live to their fullest potential.
