Founded in 1965, Community Concepts is a Community Action Agency and a 501c(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen individuals, families and communities in Western Maine by providing diverse programs, engaging in strategic partnerships, and through advocacy that addresses the barriers to promote economic opportunities for all. We meet our mission by helping children prepare for the future, building family stability and growth, providing home ownership and other housing opportunities, and stimulating economic and community development. Community Concepts delivers services in an efficient and effective manner through an all-volunteer local Board of Directors, 300 committed volunteers, and more than 200 staff, stewarding more than $24 million into the local community each year.

KVCAP is a non-profit community action program which has been providing services to the people of Kennebec and Somerset counties for over 40 years. We offer a variety of services geared towards helping our clients achieve economic and social self-sufficiency. Each year, thousands of residents access KVCAP services to assist them in their struggle to overcome the barriers of poverty. Many of our services are available to people of all income levels.

As the largest hunger relief organization in Maine, Good Shepherd Food Bank provides for Mainers facing hunger by distributing nutritious food to 400 partner agencies across the state, including food pantries, meal sites, and youth programs. Together with its network, the Food Bank leads a statewide effort to combat the root causes of hunger by engaging in advocacy, nutrition education, and strategic partnerships. In 2015, the Food Bank distributed more than 20 million pounds of food to families, children, and seniors in need throughout Maine. Tri-CAP helps individuals and families increase their social and economic self-sufficiency and, in turn, strengthens the very fabric of our communities. We achieve this through advocacy, outreach, education, and assistance.

Program Overview: Promise Early Education Center is the foremost early learning program in Central Maine that is dedicated to educating the whole child and preparing that child for success in school and opportunity beyond. Our Agency provides a safe, engaging, and empowering place for children to learn and grow; offers a results driven educational curriculum taught be degreed teachers; and supports the engagement of parents and caregivers in their child’s learning through partnership, communication and a commitment to the parent as primary educator.

Crisis & Counseling Centers (C&C) is a 53-year-old multi-service mental health and substance use disorder agency headquartered in Augusta, Maine. C&C’s mission is to develop and deliver effective solutions to the diverse behavioral health needs of our community in a professional and respectful manner. The agency provides a comprehensive treatment continuum which includes: Crisis Mobile Resolution and Crisis Stabilization Unit services; youth suicide prevention; mental health, substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders treatment; statewide parent/caregiver support through its G.E.A.R. Parent Network program; Children’s Targeted Case Management; Targeted Case Management for pregnant women or parents struggling with substance use disorder; and medication management.

Midcoast Maine Community Action (MMCA) empowers people to build better lives for stronger communities. The agency connects the community with resources that promote health and quality of life, education and economic independence. MMCA supports regional activities which encourage economic sustainability and social equity within the midcoast area.

The Maine Primary Care Association is a nonprofit organization devoted to strengthening Maine’s community health centers - and the 200,000 patients they serve annually - and to ensuring access to quality healthcare (primary care, dental care and behavioral health care) is available for all Maine people. Maine’s community health centers include Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) located throughout the state.. MPCA provides health centers with a wide variety of technical assistance and training including quality improvement, health information technology, outreach and enrollment, emergency preparedness and strategic planning, in addition to leading statewide public policy and advocacy efforts.

Southern Kennebec Child Development Corporation SKCDC is dedicated to providing, sponsoring, and facilitating the development of quality early care and education programs in Kennebec and southern Somerset Counties in Maine.

Family Violence Project is the Domestic Violence Resource Center serving Kennebec and Somerset Counties in Central Maine.

For 40 years, Camp Sunshine has provided hope, joy and community through unique experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. At our pristine campus on Sebago Lake in Maine, more than 60,000 children, siblings, parents, and caregivers from all 50 states and 27 countries have come together for fun-filled, year-round sessions with families just like theirs.
