The Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA) was formed in 1959 to promote a positive business climate for chemical manufacturing that ensures long-term economic growth for its 63 member companies that operate more than 100 sites throughout Louisiana. LCA, Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance and related organizations work to protect and expand Louisiana’s petrochemical manufacturing base. It is critical for the industry to have a unified voice in state governmental activities because legislative and regulatory actions can affect capital investment and job retention and growth. LCA is governed by a Board of Directors that consists of 17 member company representatives, primarily plant managers and divisional vice presidents. LCA has an experienced staff with expertise in the chemical industry, environmental, health, safety, security, governmental affairs, communications and association management.

NOBA is the Central Gulf region’s premiere presenting and service organization dedicated solely to the art of dance. NOBA’s dynamic Main Stage season annually features a diverse array of world-class companies and artists. Each year NOBA provides concerts, classes, workshops and lectures to more than 25,000 area dance enthusiasts of all ages. In addition, NOBA’s nationally recognized award-winning education programs provide the youth of our community access to quality arts programs with over 3,000 free dance classes and workshops annually at ten sites throughout the Greater New Orleans area.

Travelled throughout the state of Louisiana organizing and transcribing Early Childhood Listening Sessions. The purpose of each Listening Session was to conduct diverse panels regarding Early Childhood impacts throughout the state in order to influence upcoming legislation in Louisiana. The end result was a 50 page report of parents' and educators' input on access to, and quality of, Early Childhood in their communities.

The Louisiana Budget Project (LBP) monitors and reports on state government spending and how it affects Louisiana’s low- to moderate-income families. We believe that the lives of Louisianans can be improved through profound change in public policy, brought about by: • creating a deeper understanding of the state budget and budget-related issues • looking at the big picture of how the budget impacts citizens • encouraging citizens to be vocal about budget issues that are important to them • providing insight and leadership to drive the policy debate LBP was formed in 2006 as an initiative of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) and is part of a national network of over 30 State Fiscal Analysis Initiatives coordinated by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

My role at WFS was to design, implement, and grow programming. I leveraged my strong knowledge of the greater New Orleans philanthropic landscape and understanding of the region’s nonprofit network, combined with residents’ needs and pain points. I worked with the foundation long before I was offered a position here: I was part of the strategic planning team early on that shaped the foundation before it was officially launched. I am confident that our work here will be seminal and probably some of the most dynamic work ever done for women and girls of color in the South.
