Whittaker and Sam Holtsinger opened a hardware store. Late President John Wallace's father joined the company at its birth and became president in 1932. It became Wallace Hardware in 1944 and rebranded as Wallace Distribution in 2022 to coincide with the company's 100th anniversary.
