Housing Development Alliance, Inc. (HDA) is a nonprofit affordable housing developer that serves low-income families in Breathitt, Knott, Leslie, and Perry counties in Appalachian Kentucky. Founded in 1993, HDA routinely builds 18-20 homes per year and completes 60-65 home repairs. In addition, HDA provides free housing counseling, affordable rental units, redevelopment projects (in partnerships with local government), and Hope Building - a paid, on-the-job training program in home construction for men and women in substance use recovery. Our Hope Building program builds homes for middle-income families, who often need housing help but are just outside the income limits for assistance in our Homeownership Program. Through the power of housing, lives are changed and communities are transformed, giving mountain people stability, hope, and dignity, while also giving them the chance to shape their own future.
