The Tennessee Bankers Association (TBA) is a trade association established to serve the needs of our state’s banks, thrift institutions, and trust companies. The Association provides continuing education, develops and monitors state and federal legislative agendas, disseminates information on all facets of the financial services industry, and promotes the public image of financial institutions. The TBA held its first annual convention on October 13, 1890, in Memphis. Today, 214 Tennessee banks, thrift institutions, and trust companies belong to the Association. Each year, the TBA conducts approximately 80 information, education, and training programs. Among these are the TBA Annual Meeting, Independent Bankers Division Convention, and the TBA Leadership Convention. The TBA conducts four banking schools—The Southeastern Schools of Banking, Commercial Lending, Consumer Credit, and Advanced Commercial Lending. On the legislative and legal fronts, TBA keeps members informed of rapid developments in the financial industry. The Association coordinates legislative programs on both the national and state levels, provides regulatory information to member institutions, researches legal questions posed by members, and serves as a liaison between member banks and the state and federal governing bodies and regulatory agencies. Through the Personal Economics Program (PEP), local bankers bring practical economic education to area schools, community, and civic organizations. The national Teach Children to Save Day and Get Smart About Credit Day, which teaches older teens about using credit wisely, are just two of the consumer-oriented activities under PEP.

Kentucky Rural Water member utilities guarantee an enhanced quality of life for nearly ninety-five percent (95%) of the public drinking water and wastewater customers across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, making KRWA the largest utility organization of the state. KRWA was established in 1979 as a private, non-profit organization by a core group of utility leaders who shared the vision of building a self-governed, member driven association. Their original goal – to foster professionalism in our industry through non-regulatory training, technical assistance programs, and advocacy – continues to this day.

The Barbershop Harmony Society is the world leader in close-harmony a cappella singing, with approximately 14,000 members across North America. Founded in 1938 as the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, the Society welcomes all people of all ages to sing in more than 1200 quartets and nearly 700 choruses that range in size from a dozen to 150 singers. Allied organizations in more than a dozen countries bring the total number of active barbershop singers to more than 70,000 worldwide. Through active programs in music education, publishing, performance and outreach, the Society preserves and extends the reach of a uniquely American close harmony musical art form whose roots lie in African-American communities of the South in the late 1800s. Today, the Society now expends nearly $1 million annually in support of community and school programs that bring the fellowship, fulfillment and excitement of vocal music to a new generation of singers.

One of our core programs, Benefits to Work, is comprised of highly-trained experts who strive to promote self-efficiency for individuals by helping to lessen some of the obstacles faced when going to work, including concern about losing healthcare coverage and other benefits.
