We are an organization committed to principles, service, value and flexibility. We are a consulting engineering firm staffed by well-educated and experienced engineers in various disciplines, such as chemical, mechanical, electrical, civil and structural. They are supported by designers, drafters, estimators, and other complementary personnel. During nearly 25 years of service to the chemical process, oil & gas, pipeline and other industries, we have completed several thousand projects requiring multi-million manhours of engineering and design. We are pleased to claim that every single one of the projects we completed have operated successfully, often beyond design capacity, without intervention by a third party. SMC – a wholly owned subsidiary of STC, was founded in 1993. SMC is an extremely valuable resource for our customers in providing custom fabrication and manufacturing services, including mechanical and electrical systems. Being a “custom manufacturing” facility, SMC operates under the motto “If you need it, we will make it”. The STC-SMC team has been successful in completing “design-shop build” projects producing complete plants built in several modules. These plants proved to be very effective for quality, cost, delivery schedule, and field work reduction without sacrificing good operating and maintenance features.

Galaxie Business Equipment was started in 1972 by James and Dolores French in Oxford, Kansas. In 1981 the decision was made to move the business to Winfield. At that time the French’s son Nathan became a full time employee. Additionally, Edward (Friday) Lockyear, a lifelong Winfield resident, well-known for his office machine repair skills, joined the company. Throughout the next few years, Galaxie grew and added Sharp Copiers, Hon Office Furniture and Office Supplies to its offering. In 1993, Milton Konstantinidis - Jim and Dolores’ son-in-law, joined the company with experience in the computer industry. He established a computer services segment of Galaxie with a focus on document imaging and storage with Kofax Capture and LaserFiche Document Imaging Software. The company has now grown to over 20 employees - 11 of which are family and we continue to focus on reliable and honest customer service which we feel has helped us to grow and remain a fixture in the Winfield area. In 2010 we had the honor of being nominated by a local person and of winning the Small Business Administration’s Jeffery Butland Family Owned Business of the Year for the State of Kansas.
