EPI was created in 1957 by group of parents who wanted a better future for their children with disabilities. Today’s EPI is a private, non-profit organization which fosters the active community participation of people with disabilities through residential and transportation services, day activity centers, community living, employment services and much more. We believe involvement in the community is important for those we serve. The individuals we serve live and work in the community, shop at local stores, attend public events, volunteer - and just plain enjoy what the community has to offer. Additionally, EPI works to expand child care options and to improve the quality of child care available for all families in Northeast Iowa through it's Child Care Resources and Referral of Northeast Iowa program. EPI serves over 5,500 children, adults, and families in Northeast Iowa a year and employs more than 400 dedicated individuals.

Operating under the guidance of a volunteer Board of Directors, Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. is privileged to serve individuals with a wide and varying range of abilities. CUCCC was formed on July 1, 1993 with our Westridge Thode/Rouse center. CUCCC is a private, non-profit child development center. The corporate partners include Central Rivers AEA, Veridian Credit Union, Cedar Falls Schools and Waterloo Schools. In 1998, we opened our Valley Park center and our Nordic Drive center in 2002 and our Orchard Drive center in 2019. Our staff include, Degreed Early Childhood Teachers and Assistant Teachers, experienced laypersons, parents and education major students from local universities and colleges. Our staff is trained in Early Childhood Development, Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter, Universal Precautions and are First Aid and CPR (Adult, Child and Infant) Certified. Our centers are nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We serve children who are 6 weeks old through the summer following the child’s 4th grade year. We offer preschool and a school age program.
