Foellinger Foundation, Inc. is a private, charitable foundation that awards grants for the benefit of people in Fort Wayne and Allen County, Indiana. The Foundation was created in 1958 by Helene R. Foellinger, The News-Sentinel’s publisher from 1936 to 1980, and Esther A. Foellinger, her mother. It was established to carry forward their family’s tradition of civic involvement and active concern for the well-being of their community. From 1958 through 1987, their gifts and bequests developed the Foundation into a permanent philanthropic endowment. Its grantmaking continues to reflect the Foellinger family’s interest in encouraging a community of self-reliant citizens.

Northeast Indiana Works, the region’s non-profit workforce development organization, provides public and private financial and employment resources for education and skills training to meet the needs of regional industries. Each year, we serve more than 20,000 individuals and more than 1,500 employers in Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Grant, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties. We operate and staff Northeast Indiana’s 11 WorkOne Northeast career centers; oversee state and federally supported adult education programs and two youth-oriented career development programs; fund and manage employer-focused training programs to enhance the skills of existing workers; and help facilitate community-based career pathway initiatives. Junior Achievement (JA) empowers young people to own their economic success. Our volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. Junior Achievement impacted more than 4.4 million U.S. students annually, with the help of more than 150-thousand volunteers. JA students develop the skills they need to succeed at managing money, career readiness, and entrepreneurship. Junior Achievement Enhances Communities There are 102 JA Areas operating across the United States. Through an innovative partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers, these JA Areas help young people connect with relevant learning and the importance of staying in school. Greater Fort Wayne (GFW) Inc. is the chamber of commerce and economic development organization for Fort Wayne & Allen County, Indiana. At GFW Inc., we focus on supporting local business, attracting new business, and improving our community’s quality of place to grow jobs, wages, and the economy.

Our professionally supported volunteer services are proven to reduce children’s risk of dropping out of school, becoming violent, using drugs and alcohol, and falling victim to other negative cycles. Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana (CSNI) has been serving people diagnosed with cancer and their families in Allen County since 1944. In February 2006, CSNI expanded its service area to include Adams, DeKalb, Noble, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley Counties, in addition to Allen County. We provide emotional support, practical resources and information to people with cancer in our community.
