It all started in the garage! When I was going to school for my chemistry degree, I always thought it would be fun to start my own lab. After finishing school, I moved to Riverton Wyoming and started contacting local utilities and found that they were driving their water samples over 2 hours to the nearest lab. With money I had saved while I was in school, I bought the equipment necessary to analyze the local utilities water samples. From there, this lab grew into serving the oil and gas industry as well. As the company grew, it expanded from just being in the garage to the storage room of the house, the hall, the basement and soon the only additional place available for equipment was the living room. At that point, we moved to our own building and started to expand to other states. After we had been in business for about 13 years and had labs or field services in 6 states, we were acquired by Zedi (later acquired by SPL).At Precision Analysis, I developed and wrote SOPs over 52 methods anywhere from ASTM, EPA to GPA and Standard methods. I researched and purchased all of the analytical equipment for our wet bench, organic department, metals analysis, oil quality department and inorganic analysis. I knew every method and instrument inside and out and could troubleshoot instruments, methods and samples.
