BANK OF MADISON

In 1998, a group of businessmen met to discuss the formation of a new bank in Bartow County. That meeting would eventually lead to the formation of Century Bank of Georgia. The organizing directors felt that Bartow County was in need of a new, independent community bank; owned and managed by directors and officers right here in our local community. After receiving approval to proceed from both the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the new bank met its capital needs in a matter of months. The Board of Century Bank decided on a headquarters site to be located at 215 East Main Street in Cartersville, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to Bartow. Land was acquired in Calhoun, Georgia for the first non-Bartow County branch office, and in March 2007, the Calhoun Office was opened at 415 West Belmont Drive. Century Bank of Georgia continues to be a strong, stable and secure financial institution. In November 2011, Century Bank of Georgia purchased certain assets and assumed deposits of Community Bank of Rockmart headquartered in Rockmart, Georgia thru a Purchase and Assumption Agreement with the FDIC. The bank’s senior management continues to lead the bank with the vision of providing the most convenient delivery methods for quality banking services for our clients; making prompt, local decisions; providing comprehensive financial resources to small business owners and entrepreneurs. Founded by hospital employees in 1971, CGR Credit Union has served over 10,000 healthcare employees, professionals, members and their families. On the surface we may look like any other full-service community credit union or commercial bank but we are not open to the general public. Our primary membership is professionals and employees within the medical community located in Bibb, Houston, Baldwin, Peach, Tift, Monroe, and Putnam Counties in Georgia. While hospital employees do make up the largest portion of our very active membership, many of our members work in or for the area’s doctor’s offices, clinics, nursing homes, and other healthcare related businesses. Family members and persons living in the same household of these eligible employee groups can also be members and enjoy the full use and benefits of the Credit Union. Under our Charter, once you become a member you are a member for life. Unlike commercial banks and most others in the financial services business, CGR Credit Union is not a for-profit stockholder owned company. Our owners are our members and we serve only them. All of our volunteer officials, board of directors and committees, are healthcare employees both active and retired. CGR Credit Union is financially sound and offers the utmost security to our members.
