South Florida SPCA Horse Rescue (SFSPCA) is the last line of defense for abused and abandoned horses and livestock in Miami-Dade, Florida. The GFAS and TAA accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit responds 24/7 to local law enforcement to investigate cruelty and abandonment cases, and to seize and care for those victims at its Homestead, Florida facility. SFSPCA also educates the community about responsible equine care and ownership, and promotes the welfare of equines through local and national advocacy. Founded in 1992, SFSPCA is the only organization qualified to rescue, rehabilitate, retrain and rehome horses in Miami-Dade. The Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization registered with the state of Florida for the purpose of developing and operating the Keys History & Discovery Center. The geographic emphasis is on the Upper Keys, but encompasses other areas to tell the stories in a way that preserves our history in a meaningful, educational and entertaining manner. Major themes of interest are the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane, the Flagler’s Over-Sea Railway, as well as our fishing and maritime heritage. We offer an annual lecture series, as well as undertake projects that fit with our mission and vision. The Keys History & Discovery Center also features a 35-seat state-of-the-art movie theater and the Jerry Wilkinson Research Library.
