MSD's Mission: To guide, serve and support Delaware Physicians, promoting the practice and profession of medicine to enhance the health of our communities. MSD was founded in 1776 and incorporated on February 3, 1789, only 12 days after President Washington took his oath of office. It is the third oldest society of its kind in the US. Although much has changed in the medical profession since then, the principle upon which this Society of physicians was founded has remained steadfast: to further the medical profession in such a way that the health and well being of the citizens of Delaware can be enhanced. We exist to serve our members and, through them, the citizens of Delaware. We do this in four areas: advocacy, representation, public service, and education. The original 27-member organization has grown to a present membership of over 1,600 physicians throughout the State of Delaware. The Medical Society of Delaware continues its support of physicians in their vigor and spirit to advance the profession, which was the basis for its creation.

The International Literacy Association (ILA) is a professional membership organization of literacy educators, researchers and experts spanning 128 countries. For more than 67 years, ILA has set the standard for how literacy is defined, taught and evaluated, connecting research and practice to improve the quality of literacy learning across the globe. Through its Standards for the Preparation of Literacy Professionals, ILA provides an evidence-based benchmark for the development and evaluation of literacy professional preparation programs. ILA collaborates with partners across the world to develop, gather and disseminate high-quality resources, which include three peer-reviewed and edited journals—The Reading Teacher, Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy and Reading Research Quarterly. Since 1916, more than 30,000 ophthalmologists in the United States have voluntarily sought the distinction of board certification--driven by professional pride and a passion for practicing better medicine. The Board's strategic priorities and professional standards are established by physician-directors who hail from hospitals, clinics, and private practices around the country. They are assisted by three public directors who represent the patient voice. The standards and assessments that are the foundation of Board Certification are developed by a volunteer network of more than 600 distinguished subject matter experts in comprehensive and subspecialty areas of ophthalmology. Our mission is to connect people with trusted breast cancer information and a community of support. Our organization assists women at all stages of diagnosis, treatment and recovery. We offer specialized programs and services for the newly diagnosed, African-American women, young women, women with metastatic breast cancer and women with triple-negative breast cancer. We also offer programs for caregivers and healthcare professionals to help them better meet the needs of women affected by breast cancer.

The Public Justice Center pursues systemic change to build a just society. The PJC uses legal advocacy tools to pursue social justice, economic and race equity, and fundamental human rights for people who are struggling to provide for their basic needs. The PJC is a civil legal aid office that provides advice and representation to low-income clients, advocates before legislatures and government agencies, and collaborates with community and advocacy organizations. The PJC chooses projects and cases that will make a significant impact on systems, laws, and policies. Current projects include advocating on behalf of families needing healthcare and benefits, low-wage workers, low-income tenants, and students facing barriers to school enrollment and academic achievement; advocating to reform pretrial detention; using appellate cases to establish good law in poverty and civil rights cases; and coordinating a national coalition that works to establish a right to counsel in basic human needs civil cases.
