Compass Health was first established as Parkland Lutheran Children’s Home in 1901, caring for orphaned children in Western Washington. In 1953, we hired our first psychiatrist and began providing mental health care for the children who lived at our home. In 1963, Congress passed the Community Mental Health Act, creating community-based service models and allowing for the deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill. As a result, a variety of organizations were established in the northwest that ultimately became part of Compass Health, ensuring a full array of services for adults, children, and families, in the five counties we serve. In 2014, Compass Health merged with Whatcom Counseling and Psychiatric Clinic, expanding our service area to include Whatcom County. Today we serve over 18,000 people per year in our behavioral health programs. For more than 110 years, Compass Health has been providing innovative mental health services to children and adults from all walks of life suffering from mental illness. For over 60 years, CASA SERENA has been providing a safe place for women to recover from alcohol and drug addiction. Our mission is to help women and their families recover from addiction by providing evidence-based treatment services while building community, instilling self-determination, and empowering them with educational opportunities and financial literacy.

Hillside House is a Santa Barbara nonprofit residential facility caring for people with developmental disabilities. Our Mission is to provide a home that supports our residents’ efforts to maximize their physical, cognitive, social and emotional abilities so that they can achieve the highest individual level of independence in an environment where people are treated with dignity and respect. We provide a safe, home-like environment for 59 people who have levels of disability ranging from moderate to severe and often have medical challenges as well. We offer them a caring community with around-the-clock nursing care as well as physical therapy, independent living skills, recreational and learning opportunities, individualized treatment programs and much more, so that they can reach for their highest potential and enjoy their lives to the fullest.

Kids & Families Together is a not-for-profit support, education and counseling resource center that provides services for individuals and families in foster care, kinship care and adoption, for the preservation of families and the physical, emotional and mental health of children. We opened our doors on January 1, 2000 after various individuals in the foster, kinship and adoptive communities came together to discuss the gaps they saw in services throughout Ventura County. Children who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, loss, grief and multiple placements often need extraordinary care, understanding and “attachment-focused” therapeutic interventions. Parents/caregivers need specialized education, support and strategies that will enhance their ability to raise safe, healthy and nurtured children.

Ever Well was established to grow the next generation of modern treatment communities and serve people from all walks of life that have or may face significant mental, emotional, cognitive or substance use issues. Our integrated healthcare system of facilities, programs and providers set the most effective, mindful and dignified standard for behavioral healthcare. Our Modern Treatment Communities (MTC) have their roots in social welfare, psychiatry, psychology, sociology and more recently, addiction treatment. By providing an array of integrated services which include primary care; residential treatment with aftercare support; mental health services; and transitional housing with supportive services, Ever Well has landed on the most effective set of services that lead to lasting recovery for individuals with behavioral health issues. Each Ever Well Enclave is purposefully designed to maximize the benefits of the modern treatment community and focuses on creating the conditions necessary for true recovery.
