GOOD SAMARITAN SHELTER is a non profit company based out of PO BOX 5908, Santa Maria, California, United States.

In 1961 a group of Santa Maria Valley parents organized to obtain services for their adult children with mental retardation. The resulting Santa Maria Association for the Retarded was incorporated in 1962 and provided life skills training, first in a small house and later in a former utilities building in Santa Maria. With 1969 came the purchase of 5 acres on "A"​ Street in Santa Maria and a new name, North Santa Barbara County Rehabilitation Center. By 1980 services had evolved to embrace increased employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and we became Vocational Training Center. In the 1990s we began offering employment services to people with mental illness, and in the early 2000s to those who are deaf/hearing impaired or blind/visually impaired. By 2001, we were no longer a center-based organization, instead operating many “enterprising” community-based programs and business operations throughout the Central Coast. Our mission is to youth and adults with disabilities or other limitations in choosing and achieving their life goals. VTC Enterprises believes that people with disabilities should have lifelong opportunities to explore and achieve their personal life goals. Every day, we provide individualized employment and life skills training services to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to help them fully engage in their public and private lives. Our mission is to ensure that no one in SLO County goes hungry through a network of non-profit agency partners, while involving our county in the fight to end hunger. The Food Bank Coalition serves over 40,000 hungry residents in San Luis Obispo County every year; 40% of those we serve are children. For every dollar donated we can turn that into 7 nutritious meals.

NCI Affiliates and Achievement House is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing vocational and community living services to individuals with developmental disabilities. We are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehailitation Facilities in: Community Employment Services, Job Development, Job Support, Job Site Training, Organizational Employment and Governance Standards applied.

Our Mission Empowering people in SLO County to make positive change by providing food, shelter, and supportive services. Who is ECHO? ECHO is San Luis Obispo County's homeless shelter serving all of the communities in the North County areas. We are a 50-bed transitional shelter helping families and individuals find permanent housing within three months of entering. We provide case management services to the homeless, helping them create an action plan, live with new behaviors, find a job, and locate a permanent home. Other social service agencies depend on us. In addition, a group serves up to 80 dinners each evening for anyone who is hungry thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers. Who are the homeless? About 60% of our beds are occupied by children and their parents. In the month of December 2016 alone, 22 children were sheltered with us. Many are the working poor who are unable to find affordable housing. Many are the elderly and/or veterans. Many are families with children. Many struggle with physical and mental illness. Meeting Community Needs Since 2001, we have helped homeless individuals and families transform their lives as they work to establish and sustain permanent housing. With generous donations from the community, we renovated the shelter in 2015 and increased capacity from 31 to 50 beds. Who supports ECHO? The entire community! More than 73% of our income comes from donations! It takes a community-wide partnership to maintain and operate a shelter, as well as provide critical case management services. We need your support to continue the services that enable homeless men, women and families to get back home!

Mission: To enhance the wellbeing of children and families in partnership with our community. The Family Care Network is a 501(c)(3) private, nonprofit children and families services provider. Established in 1987 for the purpose of creating family-based treatment programs as an alternative to group home or institutional care for children and youth, the agency, nationally accredited by The Joint Commission, operates 20 distinct programs designed to strengthen and preserve families and individuals impacted by trauma. * In the agency’s 28 year history, our programs have grown to serve over 1,500 children, youth and families annually in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. * Programs are delivered in five service divisions, including: Resource (Foster) Family Services; Family Support Services; Education Support Services; Transitional Age Youth (ages 14-24) Services; and Community-Linked Services. * All agency programs are based on Best Practices, Wraparound Principles and evidence-based or promising practices. * The Family Care Network values integrity, accountability, program fidelity and outcome-based services.
