Sierra Vista Child & Family Services has been helping children and families in crisis in California's Central Valley since 1972. We offer a variety of community-based counseling and family support services throughout Stanislaus and Merced Counties. Sierra Vista is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 agency.

Central Valley Regional Center (CVRC) is a private, nonprofit corporation contracted by the state of California to provide services to persons with developmental disabilities. CVRC is one of 21 private, non-profit regional centers in the State of California. Central Valley Regional Center’s mission is to help individuals with developmental disabilities, and children at risk, to reach their goals. CVRC works in partnership with service providers and other community partners on behalf of children & adults with developmental disabilities and their families.

Governed by a consistent mission and overriding objectives, the agency is dedicated to empowering diverse communities in California's Central Valley and provides outreach and services to over 75,000 individuals and families annually. Throughout El Concilio's 53-year history, our agency has met adversity head-on. Whether it was taking the lead in DACA enrollments, providing full-scope Medi-Cal health access for undocumented children, or creating economic relief programs for families and businesses, El Concilio has been on the front lines of the defining moments of the day. Steadfast, our track record and history of tangible impact has established El Concilio as a critical resource to marginalized communities and for governments, agencies, the media, and the public at large.

Abode's​ mission is to end homelessness by assisting low-income, un-housed people, including those with special needs, to secure stable, supportive housing; and to be advocates for the removal of the causes of homelessness. We develop and implement innovative programs to end homelessness. Our agency is built on the principles of Housing First, a proven approach that has demonstrated results far superior to the traditional approaches to homelessness. We were founded in Alameda County in 1989 when a small group of people came together to address a growing problem with family homelessness in the Tri-City Area. Since then, we have expanded our impact throughout the Bay Area, serving more than 6,100 adults and children each year in Alameda, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, and Napa counties. Our results show how effective our work has been in ending homelessness for vulnerable adults and children throughout our community.

CVTC is an organization of service providers committed to and empowered by a sense of responsibility, ownership and pride in their efforts to train and support people who have intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1982, CVTC was one of the first day programs in California designed specifically to serve and support individuals who may need behavioral management services. This program, located in Stockton, California, remains as the pinnacle of the organization to this day. As demand for our services flourished, CVTC opened additional behavior management programs in Fresno, Modesto, Merced and Visalia. All programs offer services in Employment Training, Community Integration and Self-Advocacy. Responding to consumer demand for individual support, CVTC launched our Another Way Supported and Independent Living Service in San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties. Another Way changes lives by providing direct independent living skills training and intensive supports in all aspects of daily living to individuals in their homes and communities. This support is essential to helping our clients maintain their independent living situations. Most recently, CVTC has expanded operations through the addition of our RAPID mobile crisis response service. RAPID was developed to meet the intensive challenges associated with crisis intervention. Responding directly to crisis situations, RAPID provides the immediate care and support that is crucial for our clients to successfully navigate the most challenging of circumstances. Recognizing individual needs and providing high quality, progressive services have always been our core values. Since 1982, CVTC has continued to adapt and improve services for individuals living in the Central Valley. Our goal as an agency is to provide excellent training and support with the utmost integrity and empathy for the people we serve.

LATANYA'S STORY On December 7, 1973, Latanya Smith was born to her unwed 15-year-old mother, Bernice Wiley, and spent the first three years of her life happily living with her grandmother. In December of 1976, Latanya was taken to the hospital by her grandmother with bruises and other injuries. After an investigation of the incident, Latanya was placed back into the custody of her grandmother while Bernice, her mother went through counseling, yet there was no counseling for Charles Johnson, the mother’s boyfriend and the man who had beaten the three-year-old girl. On January 17, 1977, Bernice completed her counseling, and Latanya was placed back into her custody. Although no one can ever know the pain three-year-old Latanya may have endured, we do know that on February 14, 1977, Latanya was pronounced dead from physical abuse. It took three weeks for Charles Johnson and Bernice Wiley to end the life of the little girl. Latanya’s case went to the grand jury, where we then learned that Latanya had been beaten, burned and bitten by Charles, her fingers were pinched with pliers, and she had been beaten with a broom so badly that the broom broke into pieces. We learned, that an autopsy completed after death, showed that her tissues were saturated with blood, and that she had died from internal hemorrhaging caused by abuse. We learned that, at the age of three, Latanya had lost the will to live. Bernice had been so afraid of losing her boyfriend that she did nothing to stop the abuse and Charles actually took pleasure in the pain inflicted upon Latanya, as she was another man’s child. Three members of the Jury and other concerned community members were so moved by Latanya’s case, that the Council was formed. We are an EEO employer.
