Hospice of Humboldt was founded in 1978 by a small group of volunteers. We saw our first patient in January 1979. Today, we are team of over 100 providing care for people with a life-threatening illness. The focus of care offered by Hospice of Humboldt is on quality of life with an emphasis on pain control and symptom management. The mission of the blood center is to provide a safe and adequate supply of blood to the patients we serve. To achieve this mission, fifty to sixty donors are needed daily. The Northern California Community Blood Bank is a non-profit organization. The blood bank began in 1951 and for the past 56 years there has been a diverse group of individuals (too many to name) that have helped the blood bank thrive. Hundreds of thousands of selfless donors have willingly and silently come through our doors and to our blood mobiles to give "The Gift Of Life"​ for no other reason, but to do the right thing for someone in need. Redwood Community Action Agency (RCAA) is a locally based, private non-profit organization that provides a wide range of services to low and moderate income residents of Humboldt County. The Watershed Research and Training Center works in Trinity County, throughout California, and across the US to strengthen the relationships among communities and the landscapes they inhabit. Locally, we conduct forest and watershed management projects, lead economic development initiatives and support community resilience and education efforts. Across California, we support other communities in their efforts to build land and fire management strategies and capacity. Nationally, we work in partnership with The Nature Conservancy to lead the Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network, which supports communities as they learn to live better with wildfire.
