Founded in 1976, Santa Barbara Middle School is the only accredited stand-alone 6th - 9th grade middle school in California. Bishop García Diego High School is an independent Catholic co-educational secondary school that welcomes students of all faiths and provides them with the spiritual, personal, and intellectual knowledge to meet the enduring challenge of realizing their God-given potential in a multi-cultural society. Bishop Diego combines the rich heritage of our predecessor schools. In 1914, Dolores School opened a Catholic high school program for girls in downtown Santa Barbara. The school transitioned to the name Notre Dame High School in the early 1920s and became The Santa Barbara Catholic High School, a co-educational secondary school in 1940. In 1959, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles assumed sponsorship of the school, moving it to our present campus and taking California's first bishop, Bishop Francisco García Diego y Moreno, as its patron. In 2005, Bishop Diego High School became an independent Catholic high school.

The SBCC Foundation was established in 1976 to support Santa Barbara City College students through sustained philanthropy. Today, the foundation continues to be a critical link for those interested in pursuing goals for higher education, providing financial support in the form of scholarships, book grants, child care opportunities, tutoring, and programmatic aid. Last year, the foundation gave more than $3.5 million in assistance to SBCC students, helping them prepare for careers and/or transfer to four-year universities.

At South Coast Montessori, we believe in fostering the child's love of learning. We are Santa Barbara’s newest Montessori school for infants through Elementary-aged children. Our beautiful campus in Goleta, California features wonderful indoor and outdoor classroom environments. California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC) started as a peer support mechanism for executive directors of the fledgling Independent Living Centers in California (ILC) in 1976. Originally the directors were the usual representatives who went to Sacramento to educate public policy makers on issues affecting persons with disabilities. Today, we serve all of the Independent Living Centers in California in different capacities, whether it's through our Disability Organizing Network or the assistive technology program, Ability Tools.
