The Robert Louis Stevenson School was founded in 1908. We are located in an historic brownstone on West 74th Street off Central Park West – a short walk to the Park, Lincoln Center, The American Museum of Natural History, and the vibrant life of the Upper West Side. The Robert Louis Stevenson School’s mission is to promote the emotional mastery needed for learning and living, bringing students into a strong academic and therapeutic environment and propelling them towards postsecondary independence and success. Stevenson serves students in grades eight through twelve. Seventh grade applicants who are ready for college preparatory coursework may also be considered. The student-to-staff(faculty & clinical staff) ratio is 4:1. Stevenson has rolling admissions. Accepted students may join the Stevenson community at any point during the year. York School is a co-ed day school serving grades 8-12. York is located off highway 68 at York Road between Salinas and Monterey. Its strong reputation as the top academic college preparatory school on the central coast is the result of a classic liberal arts curriculum and interactive teaching methods that provide excellent preparation for collegiate studies. Chartwell School meets the needs of students with dyslexia and a wide range of language-related learning differences. Immersed in our college preparatory environment, these bright students who often find that learning to read well is extremely difficult. As a result, many have struggled in traditional academic settings. Chartwell is the only school of this type serving California’s Central Coast region. Accredited at the highest level by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Chartwell offers a full mainstream curriculum that meets or exceeds California state standards. All classes use well-structured, diagnostic, multi-sensory approaches and implement research-based best practices. Chartwell places special emphasis on accessing higher order cognition, creativity and problem solving skills through language development, hands-on science, the arts, the social and emotional foundations of learning, and environmental education.
