On September 1, 1966, Harvey Duthler opened Harvey Automotive’s first dealership – Harvey Cadillac – in a three-story building on Ionia Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids. Two years later, a new Cadillac dealership was built at the current site, 2600 28th Street SE. It opened in January of 1969. The Harvey Lexus franchise and facility were added in 1990. The Harvey All-Car Collision Center, at 2601 29th Street SE, was formerly a General Motors parts operation and opened in the late 1980s. Through the years, Harvey Automotive made several additions and added more service area during the 1970s. John M. Leese became owner and president of Harvey Automotive in 2002. In 2003, the Cadillac facility was remodeled and significantly updated. In 2004, the Lexus facility added its own service facility. In fall of 2015, Harvey Auto Outlet, located at 2500 28th Street, was opened. They specialize in pre-owned vehicles, mostly around $15,000.
