In 1987, our owner, Jerry M. Johnson, committed himself to quality and excellence in construction by leaving his job and forming his own company – Huntsville Design & Construction (HDC). At the time of establishment, he and his three partners already had 35 years of combined experience. Over time, Jerry continued to acquire more of the business and slowly became the sole owner. In the mid-1990s, church construction became a principal line of service for us. Over the last three and a half decades, we have constructed and renovated dozens of churches. In addition, we have gained experience in a variety of builds, including warehouses, pharmacies, pre-schools, clinics, restaurants, car washes, and so much more. Now, HDC prides itself on being a longstanding, family-owned business from Huntsville, Alabama, committed to quality, experience, and dependability. Our primary goal is customer satisfaction and building long-term relationships. We believe that honesty and integrity are essential for our company’s success. Our focus on churches is not simply by happenstance. At HDC, we honor God through how we run our business, how we treat our customers, and with the quality of our projects. We are devoted to building strong foundations for the heart of our community and beyond.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF GREATE
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF GREATE
Chattanooga, Tennessee

With all of the violence and crime in our communities it can be hard to know where to start to make a difference, but what if there was one thing that would attack a root cause of poverty? Study after study has shown that the lack of decent and affordable housing is a root cause of poverty worldwide. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area is attacking poverty here in our community one home, home family at a time, by using new homes and home repairs to drive family and community economic development. Here's how: • We take vacant land and build simple, decent and affordable homes, which supports the local tax base. • Materials are purchased from local building materials suppliers, sustaining jobs. • Local tradespeople provide key services helping them support their families. • Savings on utility bills thanks to Energy Star 3.0 standards help families stretch their budgets. • Investment in new homes (or in exterior repairs) encourages neighborhood improvements. • Stable housing positively impacts the health and productivity of our homebuyers. There are no give-aways in the Habitat program. Partners pay closing costs, put in “Sweat Equity” – in classes about homeownership and in working at Habitat’s office, our ReStore and on other partner’s homes. Volunteers provide most of the labor, while individuals and corporate donors provide money and materials. Partner family's zero interest mortgage payments help Habitat offer opportunities to more families. As part of its ministry, HFHGCA operates the ReStore, a building materials store featuring building materials and some home goods, all at 50-75% off retail. HFHGCA has been at work in Chattanooga since 1986, and is affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. HFHGCA provides Equal Housing Opportunity, Equal Employment Opportunity, and is a Drug Free Workplace. More information is available at www.habichatt.org.
