The EIT Benefit Funds (EIT) has been in service to the electrical industry since 1930. 2005 marked the 75th anniversary of the Funds. The Electrical Insurance Trustees, as it was named and what we were known as for many years, was originally established to provide group life insurance and disability insurance for participants of I.B.E.W. Local Union No. 134. Over the years, through the dedicated service and commitment to serving the best interests of participants and their families by the various Board of Trustees participants (both Labor and Management), new plans for health and welfare benefits and pension benefits were created and new benefits were added to existing plans to provide participants with the best possible benefits given the resources that were available at the time. EIT now administers plans that provide a full range of health and welfare benefits such as medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage, hearing, mental health, accident and sickness, life insurance, disability and unemployment benefits. Participants are eligible for these various benefits based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by the Local with the employer(s). In addition to the many health and welfare benefits provided, EIT also administers various defined benefit pension plans and a defined contribution pension plan that participants participate in based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by the Local with the employer(s). EIT, its Trustees and employees remain committed to serving the electrical industry in the many years to come by striving to fulfill our mission: To enhance the quality of life for participants, their families and their beneficiaries by delivering retirement benefits, health care coverage, and related services as professionally, efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.

IBEW Local 11, Los Angeles. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) was formed in 1891 by a group of electricians who wanted a safer workplace, fair wages and, in general, respect for the service they rendered their communities through their labors. In 1891 there were no training programs, no safety regulations, no medical plans, no pension or retirement plans, and nearly half of all electricians were being killed on the job. Because the IBEW nourished the needs of these workers, it has grown from a handful of pioneers to the largest electrical union in the world. However, the IBEW is not about a growing business or organization, it's a fraternity. The IBEW is made up of working men and women, in the electrical industry, committed to bettering themselves and the industry. Neither the IBEW nor the electrical industry is made better, unless all who labor in the industry are secure in their employment, receive a fair wage, have training programs, pension plans, dental and medical plans for themselves and their families. For over a hundred years the IBEW has been about offering all these things to electricians. All electrical workers deserve the IBEW's standard of living, the highest in the industry!

All without the often crippling burden of college tuition debt. When you join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, you also benefit from the brotherhood and strong sense of “community” that has been an IBEW tradition for more than 125 years.

STATE ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY
STATE ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY
Huntington, West Virginia

From a humble start 70 years ago, State Electric has evolved into one of the nation's largest and best-known electrical distributors, with more than 600 employees at 40 branch locations servicing 7 states. The company was born in Huntington, WV in 1952 when Art Weisberg loaded his pickup truck with light bulbs, extension cords and fuses and then hit the road selling to grocery and hardware stores that were so numerous back then. Weisberg built State Electric around the idea that providing the customer with just a product was not enough. "Beyond quality products and competitive prices," he says, "the thing that separates our company from others is our service. We believe that making an effort to provide customers with what they need, when they need it, will keep them happy and coming back." Happy customers have been coming back to State Electric for over 70 years and during that time the company has steadily expanded, growing from one location in Huntington to today's network of locations in West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, and servicing an even larger region.
