Since May 1985, the Brazos Valley Food Bank has been the core of a network of hunger-relief organizations serving the hungry in Brazos Valley. The Food Bank recovers food and grocery product from grocers, USDA and individuals. From 1999 – present, it has increased food distribution from 709,414 to just under 7 million pounds. The Brazos Valley Food Bank strives to alleviate hunger in the Brazos Valley by distributing food and educational resources to our neighbors in need through a network of hunger relief partners. Katy Christian Ministries is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization committed to “Transforming lives through God’s grace and the generosity of the community”. We do this by providing services to those in our community through our Social Services, Food Pantry, and Crisis Center departments. Proceeds from our Resale Store located at the corner of First Street and Avenue A., helps fund these programs. Our Social Services department helps provide light to those in darkness by helping restore broken lives through Christ-centered programs that offer individuals clarity, dignity, purpose and hope. Services include financial assistance for housing and utility expenses, clothing and furniture vouchers, school supplies, Christmas gifts for children and senior adults, Health Benefits Access such as Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, Gold Card, SNAP, TANF, and also help with job searches and other referrals as needed. Our Food Pantry department helps meet the nutritional needs of our clients through supplemental food and personal care items, holiday meals, and birthday bags. Our Crisis Center offers hope, help and safety through God’s grace and unfailing love to those affected by Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse. We provide support, education, and resources to meet the needs of victims in the community and surrounding areas.

Cy-Hope was birthed in 2011 by a core group of people concerned about the children in our community. CFISD is the third largest school district in Texas, and the largest non-urban school district in the country. CFISD is made up of a majority Latino (45%), Caucasian (24%) and African American (18%) students, with half of the over 117,000 students in CFISD qualifying as economically disadvantaged by federal standards. We have many families and students struggling with hunger, mental health, finishing school, and limited access to enriching experiences like organized sports, college prep or certification classes, private music lessons and summer camp. Cy-Hope strives to fill in these gaps through our programs, partnering with other community organizations to make sure we do not duplicate efforts, but instead collaborate to meet the needs of our community.
