For the past two decades, growth and innovation have been hallmarks of the Florence Crittenton Agency as we have moved beyond our original focus as a maternity home to provide comprehensive services that meet the needs of both male and female adolescents, as well as children, families, and adult clients. A 55-bed residential treatment facility remains one of the core functions of our agency, providing addiction recovery and mental health services to adolescent males and females, ages 13 to 18. A separate foster care program works primarily with teens, sibling sets, and children and youth whose families are in crisis. Our outpatient services division specializes in the treatment of co-occurring disorders for adolescents and adults. School- and community-based assessment and therapy, group education, and prevention programs support our core mission and values. Sertoma Center was founded in 1961 by the Knoxville Downtown Sertoma Club and met in the basement of First Presbyterian Church. The initial goal of the Center was to train pre-school children for special education classes in the public schools and originally served 17 children. In 1970, the move was made to Dandridge Avenue and the Center was established as a non-profit corporation. At this time, the Knox County school system took over the provision of educational services for children with special needs. Sertoma Center changed its focus to providing comprehensive life services for adults with intellectual disabilities. The Center moved into its headquarters on Fifth Avenue in 1993 and presently serves approximately 135 individuals and their families. Major funding comes from the State of Tennessee’s Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities for our current annual budget of $12 million dollars. However, the full extent of our services could not be realized without the vital support of the City of Knoxville, Knox County, and the business community, foundations, civic groups, family and friends of Sertoma Center.

We operate 28 retail stores in 15 counties to serve over 3,750 individuals annually. Goodwill agencies around the country serve more than 2.4 million people each year. We are able to achieve our mission with the support of our community. Donate - Donations help people and the environment! Clothing, furniture and household goods like books, toys and dishes stay in use and out of the landfill. Shop - Donated items are sorted and processed for resale in Goodwill retail stores, which provides an affordable shopping alternative for the community. Train - Profits from the sale of donated items go directly into Goodwill vocational training programs and employment services. Work - When given the proper training and counseling, individuals are able to overcome their barriers to employment to obtain and maintain meaningful employment and are able to contribute to their community.

Positively Living, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 1996 to assist in the care of those living with HIV and AIDS. In 2018 we launched our Choice Health Network to serve more people, in more impactful ways. Today we serve nearly 4,000 individuals and families struggling to survive the challenges created by HIV, homelessness, mental illness, addiction, and disabilities. Our three programmatic pillars include our Medical Clinic which provides disease testing, treatment, and prevention; Client Services which includes therapy and mental health, food, housing, and transportation support; and our Harm Reduction program which offers a syringe services exchange and provides resources for our neighbors who use substances. Positively Living & Choice Health Network have a staff of more than 40 individuals and offices in Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Memphis. We offer a “one stop shop” for care and address the needs of each client individually, with dignity and respect. We believe a city is better when all its citizens are healthy, active contributors.

Established in 1979, Foothills Academy Society consists of Foothills Academy School and Estelle Siebens Community Services. Foothills Academy school is a Designated Special Education Private School accredited through Alberta Education for students with diagnosed Learning Disabilities. The school draws upon evidence-based educational practices to help 285 students in grades 3 - 12 reach their true potential each year. Our High School graduation rate is close to 100% year after year and the majority of students graduating from Foothills Academy move on to University or other Post-Secondary institutions. The families who come to Foothills Academy do not make the decision to come to our school program lightly. Their children have generally struggled academically and emotionally in the public education system for years. Estelle Siebens Community Services is open to the broader community year-round. Our staff directly serve over 1,000 families affected by Learning Disabilities, ADHD and associated disorders each year. We also provide Professional Development training to thousands of educators each year throughout the country. Our programs include: - intensive remedial reading, writing and math instruction - Camp Amicus and year-round recreational programming - parent workshops - psychological assessment and counselling services - educator professional development Additionally, as a centre of excellence in the field of Learning Disabilities and ADHD, we conduct research and share our knowledge and resources with the broader community. As a charitable society, we strive to offer all our programs and services without turning anyone away due to their financial situation. Each year, approximately $1 million in bursary assistance is provided to ensure that our programs are financially accessible. Staff, program participants and the general community help ensure that we are able to meet this need.
