AIM's mission is to support an individual’s ability to make independent, self-directing choices through education, advocacy, information and referral. AIM is part of the international movement of independent living and has been in business for more than 30 years. As an independent living center, AIM provides four core services: Peer counseling; information and referral; independent living skills; and individual and systems advocacy. Glove House is a not-for-profit children’s agency providing services to children and families throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes area of New York State. Our programs and services are for children who have mental health or emotional issues who have been abandoned, abused or neglected. We help children who are at risk and who frequently have lost hope.

The Institute for Human Services, Inc. (IHS) is a non-profit advocate serving the Southern Tier. Our goal is to support our member organizations through: • Capacity building, governance, and operations support • Strategic collaboration & communication between member and non-member organizations • Professional development and conferences aimed at organizational sustainability • Coordination of programs and services that enhance the capacity for other organizations The Institute for Human Services works together with our members, other non-profits, funders, government entities, and community leaders to create a network of collaboration and communication aimed at improving the quality of life in the Southern Tier. We believe that success is achievable when organizations are able to break out of their silos and are given the right tools to meet a common goal. Our focus is on the good of the community. We are a dynamic and responsive entity, able to provide the information and resources that are most needed in the community, both for organizations and individuals. IHS provides services such as the 2-1-1 HELPLINE, Steuben Rural Health Network, Coordinated Transportation Services, Resource Development, and Lead Agency Services as a capacity building, information, and referral opportunity for our member organizations. IHS is a 501(c)(3) local association that provides a united voice for the non-profit sector and serves as a unique support and information provider.

“Child and Family Resources is dedicated to providing affordable, accessible programs that enhance and support the education of parents and child care providers and encourage the highest quality of care and positive learning experiences for all young children.” CFR has Family Resource Centers in each Ontario, Seneca and Yates counties offering a variety of services at each site and may include family fun events, early childhood learning opportunities, parent education classes and support groups, resources and referral to parent and child care providers, mentoring and supervised visitation services for non-custodial parents, and training, registration and enrollment services for child care programs.

As a CCHC, I was responsible for assisting child care centers in the county with matters concerning health, safety and sanitation. My time was spent largely with consultation and training, as well as some community, inter-agency work and collaborating with pediatricians in Wilkes. For several years I was active in screening children in centers for vision, hearing and developmental status. In addition, I was privileged to teach parenting classes and facilitate peer support groups.
