River Town Federal Credit Union, formerly Sparks Federal Credit Union, was formed in 1958 as a state chartered credit union by a group of Sparks Hospital employees wanting the benefit of savings and loan products.
In 1986, the credit union was granted a federal charter allowing more growth by including other employer groups. In 2004, the Board of Directors amended the bylaws to change the name from Sparks Federal Credit Union to River Town Federal Credit Union. The name - River Town Federal Credit Union - was selected because it best reflects the surrounding area and one of the city's greatest resources - the Arkansas River. Since that time, River Town Federal Credit Union has added other employee groups who benefit from lower loan rates, fewer fees, and a voice in what happens at the credit union.
