International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers The IBEW represents approximately 750,000 active members and retirees who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The objective of this Association shall be to promote the interest of the plumbing and pipefitting industry. Among other ways of promoting these interests, the Association shall (1) recommend legislation to protect the trades and further sanitation for the protection of public health (2) discourage all proposed legislation detrimental to the public health (3) promote legislation that will assist organizing of our crafts into United Association Locals (4) provide assistance to Locals in an effort to organize our unorganized crafts (5) prevent members from unjust and injurious competition (6) secure unity of action among all workers of the industry for a higher standard of living (7) take such actions as will engender protection and encouragement from society and government (8) cultivate feelings of friendship and good will among those in our industry.
