MT. OLIVE PICKLE COMPANY, INC.
Mt. Olive, North Carolina
All Size Average employees
Mount Olive Pickle Company, Inc. was formally organized on January 2, 1926. Few companies can boast a 90-year history. But for the 13 shareholders present in S.L. Warren’s office that January day, the meeting was an inauspicious convergence of business and civic enterprise. They founded a pickle company to create a market for local farmers, believing its success would benefit the local economy. Little could those original shareholders envision the fruits of their endeavor 90 years later. Mt. Olive Pickle today carries the name of its hometown to all 50 states, and in 2017 Mt. Olive is the best selling brand of pickles, peppers and relishes in US grocery stores. Even as it has worked to achieve its position as the leading national brand, it has remained true to its original proposition. For nine decades Mt. Olive Pickle has served as a mainstay in the economic well-being of its community. It has done so by focusing on the ultimate goals that are closer to home: to produce an excellent product, to provide a fair return for its shareholders, to be a progressive, compassionate employer, and to remain a valued corporate citizen in the community.

Headquartered in Rocky Mount, N.C., Boddie-Noell Enterprises Inc. (BNE) is a diversified, family-owned company with interests in a variety of restaurant and land-development projects. In some ways BNE hasn’t changed since the day it started business back in 1962. As we approach our 50th anniversary, our values and commitment to family are just as strong and evident today as they were back then. But in other ways, we have changed. Today we employ more than 12,500 people and are considered one of the nation’s largest privately held restaurant companies. A prominent restaurant trade publication* ranked us among the 70 largest restaurant companies in the U.S., quite an achievement considering our humble beginnings. But the answer we give most often, when people ask us who we are, is this: We’re a family. We’re a group of people who enjoy working together. We love helping each other grow and seeing each other succeed. That’s BNE.

SOUTHERN BANK AND TRUST COMPANY
SOUTHERN BANK AND TRUST COMPANY
Mount Olive, North Carolina
100-499 employees
OUR HISTORY Southern Bank and Trust Company was originally chartered as the Bank of Mount Olive on January 29, 1901. The bank was founded by a group of local businessmen who wanted a locally owned bank based in the community. The Bank officially began operations at 102 S. Center Street, Mount Olive with one employee and $10,000 in total assets. As it continued to slowly grow in the 50's and 60's, management within the bank realized that its name may not be well received in other communities. So in 1967, the name was changed to Southern Bank and Trust Company. Southern has continued to grow organically, as well as through the acquisitions of other financial institutions, through purchases of individual branches from other institutions, and through the establishment of de novo branches. The bank currently has assets of approximately $5 billion and operates approximately 60 locations in North Carolina and Virginia. HOW WE DO BUSINESS • We put safety and stability first. We do this through long-term perspective, sound credit practices and prudent management of our assets.
