Central Security Systems incorporated in December of 1985. The family business was started by Dick, Darlene and Don Harpster. Our office moved to 370 NW Broad St. in downtown Southern Pines in 1988. Bill Harpster, who joined the business in 1990, became Vice-President in 1997. Jason Harpster, Dick’s son, worked as a security technician part time during college and became General Manager in 2010. Sandhills Home Theater was formed as a division of Central Security Systems in 1996 and has been a member of CEDIA since 1997. Ryan Douglas joined in 1999 and has led the home theater division since 2011. Dick and Ryan worked with the Town of Southern Pines and started the Movie in the Park series in 2012. Every spring and fall we give back to the community by sponsoring and showing four free family movies in the downtown park.
