Northeast New Jersey Legal Services’s (NNJLS) mission is to ensure equal access to justice for residents of Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic Counties, NJ experiencing poverty. In 2014, Pinebrook Family Services, Family Answers and THE PROGRAM for Women and Families joined services as Pinebrook Family Answers. We provide solutions for generations from infants to seniors. Our goal is to help all types of families become healthy and flourish by providing services and programs to overcome challenges and succeed in daily living. Our services include: • Behavioral Health Services which encompasses outpatient psychiatric and counseling services offered at three Lehigh Valley locations • Foster Care/Kinship Care/Placement Services • Adoption Services, Pinebrook is an affiliate of the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN) • Other Community-Based Services such as: Making the Grade, a truancy-reduction, family-support program; Transportation and Family Visitation Program, a service that connects children in out-of-home placement with their biological/legal families; Shape, a family preservation program that utilizes case management; Compeer, a program that matches volunteer mentors with adults who live with a chronic, long-term mental illness; HOMECARE, a service that assists Seniors with the daily chores of living so that they are able to age in place longer; and Warmline, an anonymous phone service that provides callers a friend to talk to. • Forensic Services which include a Transitional Residence for homeless women and their children; ALPHA program, provides teens on probation with academic, behavioral, and job readiness services; and parenting classes for prisoners, support groups, and supervised visits. The agency’s community-based services specifically focus on assisting low-income families of diverse backgrounds, primarily residing in inner-city Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton and the Slate Belt area of Northampton County. Founded in 1970, the New York Center for Interpersonal Development (NYCID) is a not-for-profit organization on Staten Island providing youth, community and professional development programs as well as dispute resolution services that educate and inform the public about constructive problem-solving, effective communication and intercultural awareness. We also operate a training institute to teach these skills to others. Four decades ago we first opened our doors with The Rap Center on New Dorp Lane, a place for young people to gather, explore personal issues and forge healthy relationships with caring adults willing to provide support and guidance through very difficult times. In 1982, NYCID broadened our scope of services and opened the Community Dispute Resolution Center. With the training of volunteers in mediation and other methods of conflict management, we began providing professional dispute resolution services to the Staten Island community at large. Over the years, NYCID has reaffirmed our commitment to supporting young people and peacefully resolving conflicts. Working not only with Staten Islanders but with residents throughout New York City, our menu of programs and services has expanded to include: school-based after school enrichment programs; a transfer high school; drop out prevention services; numerous innovative mediation and conflict management services; and dynamic trainings and professional development workshops.
