Our founding banks received their charters and opened their doors within 55 years of Maine becoming a state. These two mutual banks have continued to evolve and thrive, always keeping the interest of those we serve, our customers, employees and neighbors, in sharp focus. Headquartered in Biddeford and Auburn respectively, Biddeford Savings and Mechanics Savings have supported and invested in our communities for more than 150 years. In 2015, our banks recognized we could better serve our customers by forming a partnership under a mutual holding company: Maine Community Bancorp. This alliance increased both banks' lending capacity and our ability to offer customers leading-edge products — while maintaining our core identities as community banks with rich local history. Biddeford Savings and Mechanics Savings deepened our partnership in 2020, consolidating under the single charter of Maine Community Bank and establishing a shared brand family. This step allowed us to increase our lending capacity even further, expand the full-service branch locations available to our customers, and remain competitive in the world of modern banking—while staying true to our commitment to the people, businesses, and towns of Central and Southern Maine.
