Goodwill of North Georgia, a 501(c)(3) corporation, provides job training and employment services to people who are having trouble finding work, want to change careers, or start their own business. With the agency’s support, Goodwill participants overcome employment hurdles caused by physical, emotional and developmental disabilities, limited job skills, poverty and other challenges. We sell donated clothing, books, furniture and household goods in stores across North Georgia, and the proceeds help fund our mission to put people to work. We are here to help you! At MedLink Georgia we strive to provide comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous care to all our patients. We offer a broad array of primary and preventive care services for patients of all ages, including screening, diagnosis, and management of chronic illnesses. The Georgia Advocacy Office, Inc. (GAO) is a private non-profit corporation, who's mission is to work with, and for oppressed and vulnerable individuals in Georgia who are labeled as disabled or mentally ill to secure their protection and advocacy. GAO is federally funded, and has been designated by Georgia as the Congressionally-mandated agency to implement Protection and Advocacy of individuals with disabilities throughout the state GAO has seven different programs, each rooted in a different piece of federal legislation. Every program uses a combination of self-advocacy supports, citizen involvement, staff advocacy, and legal advocacy to protect and advocate for the rights of Georgians with disabilities. We also focus on community building and partnering with self-advocates and community associates to widen the support network available in Georgia for people with disabilities and those who care about them. GAO supports Citizen Advocacy, an additional strategy to protect and advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities in Georgia. Citizen advocacy happens when a valued citizen, unpaid and independent of human services, creates an intentional relationship with a person who is at increased risk of abuse, neglect and social exclusion. The citizen advocate learns to understand, respond to, and represent the partner’s interests as if they were the advocate’s own. This allows the gifts and concerns of the person with the disability to be brought forth into the circles of ordinary community life. We believe relationships with people who are loyal and free from conflict of interest are what make all people safer. It also helps create a space for our communities to be enriched by all of its members.

Hi-Hope Service Center cultivates community for adults with developmental disabilities by connecting them with integrated opportunities for learning, work and leisure. As a non-profit with over 55 years of helping individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, Hi-Hope Service Center strives to provide the highest level of service to the individuals that we serve. A key to our success is the dedication of our outstanding staff and the support that we receive from the community. Hi-Hope’s purpose is to provide support to an individual in a way that encourages and allows them to increase their ability to function independently. Working to allow individuals to engage in integrated community settings is primary to our method. Connecting participants with “natural supports” or individuals with whom they can be engaged who are not “paid” to support them is an important goal.
