CENTER FOR BIOLOGIOCAL DIVERSITY IN
CENTER FOR BIOLOGIOCAL DIVERSITY IN
Tucson, Arizona
100-499 employees
At the Center for Biological Diversity, we believe that the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature — to the existence in our world of a vast diversity of wild animals and plants. Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law, and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters, and climate that species need to survive. We want those who come after us to inherit a world where the wild is still alive.

GAP's mission is simple: Standing in the GAP for those in need. Bringing help to children, healing to families, and hope to the community. GAP has been an advocate for children and at-risk populations since 1999, serving in 3 core areas: Children: GAP daily cares for 100 children and teens in the foster system who have experienced abuse and neglect in 10 family-oriented group homes. Family: GAP licenses foster caregivers to address a growing need. GAP serves the families of children in foster care by providing a safe place for supervised visitation between parents and their children with the goal of a healthy reunification when possible. Women impacted by addiction can find restoration and renewal through an 18-month individualized program. Community: GAP provides food and basic need items to men, women, and children through partnerships with over 35 nonprofits and churches through our Community Warehouse. The GAP Kitchen prepares 1000 meals each week for low-income school children, the elderly, and other at-risk individuals, and the Culinary Job Training Program allows individuals coming from a difficult past the opportunity for a second chance career. Our goal is to continually evolve in these areas to Stand in the GAP for the children we serve, with the strong hope and sincere desire that generational cycles of poverty, addiction, and a growing foster care system can be healed ONE LIFE at a time. Breaking these cycles through the power of God can lead to HEALTHIER FAMILIES and this creates TRANSFORMED COMMUNITIES.
